FULL TITLE: Activist who was walking across America barefoot to raise awareness of climate change is hit and killed by SUV
A man who was hiking across America barefoot on the side of highways to 'save the earth' was struck by a Buick SUV and died Saturday.
Mark Baumer, 33, began his shoeless trek in October. His journey aimed to raise awareness and funds for the FANG Collective, a Rhode Island organization that supports nonviolent resistance to the natural gas industry.
Florida Highway Patrol confirmed Baumer was hit on the side of Highway 90 in Walton County. He was pronounced dead on the scene during the 101st day of his trip.
The vegan, climate advocate was a web content specialist at a library in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Brown University with a MFA in 2011.
He was supposed to end up in California by May and hoped to raise at least $10,000 according to his YouCaring page.
After his death on Saturday, a wave of donations poured in and Baumer's goal was surpassed by $2,000.

Tempted fate and was responsible for his own actions. Still, his parents, the principals of every K-12 school he attended, and the president of Brown University deserve to be horse whipped, figuratively of course.

Please research it and start reading your labels.
Smart farmers/ranchers will not feed soy to their animals because they know what it does them.
Their is tons of scientific evidence that it does just what I wrote.
I used to have an enormous collection of scientific papers dealing with nutrition . I avoid processed foods and soy as much as I possibly can and I have a better body than most high school kids and I have college age children. I also have no metabolic problems and take no medication which is getting increasingly rare in my age group (early GenX)
Oh I pretty much eat things that doctors say not to like butter , eggs and meat etc

walking barefoot along the side of the road in the winter is just plain stupidity.....
..it does tell us that a college degree and a masters especially means absolutely nothing..

My point, exactly.
If he had really believed in Global Warming, he’s have walked I-90, not US-90 in the winter. He would have been safely strolling through Gary, Indiana on his way to the South Side of Chicago.
