SIG SAUER, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Army has selected the SIG SAUER Model P320 to replace the M9 service pistol currently in use since the mid-1980s. Released in 2014, the P320 is a polymer striker-fired pistol that has proven itself in both the United States and worldwide markets. The P320 is the first modular pistol with interchangeable grip modules that can also be adjusted in frame size and caliber by the operator. All pistols will be produced at the SIG SAUER facilities in New Hampshire. The MHS Program provides for the delivery of both full size and compact P320s, over a period of ten (10) years. All pistols will be configurable to receive silencers and will also include both standard and extended capacity magazines. I am tremendously proud of the Modular Handgun System Team, said Army Acquisition Executive, Steffanie Easter in the release. By maximizing full and open competition across our industry partners, we truly have optimized the private sector advancements in handguns, ammunition and magazines and the end result will ensure a decidedly superior weapon system for our warfighters.

My brother does. He competes with the full-frame version with the 5" barrel and optics, and he carries the compact version with the 4" barrel. Former in 9mm, latter in .357 Sig. A new frame and barrel kit costs less than a new Sig. YMMV. But you are correct that licensing is an issue because he lives in one of Those States.
I have a Sig Sauer P238 Rosewood. Love it.
My EDC is an XDS in .45. Love it.

“I learned on the M1911A1 and loved it - best pistol ever!”
I love the 1991. We had modified units. And that’s what I always carried. But, all the weapons discussed in this thread have great stopping power. The 1911 is not for everyone but I know it may have saved my life.
I’ve fired the Beretta and it is a fine weapon. And Sigs are great too, i’ve not fired the P320.
.357 Sig, not .45 ACP. I don’t know why they cared about the .357 Sig; maybe it’s for certain base security jobs. It’s a nasty round, if not very popular.
I was just thinking of the guns I have carried concealed since 1970 when I first got a license from the sheriff of Pike County, Alabama. I was in college at Troy.
First was a Browning Hi-Power then a Colt Series 70 1911 which I carried cocked and locked. For a short time during that period I would occasionally carry a Llama .380. Interesting as it had a locked breech.
For maybe 5 years in the early 80s it was such an odd assortment that I can’t remember them all but mostly the Colt.
Next came a Sig Sauer P220, then a P226 then a Glock 19. For a few years I was selling my guns and ended up carrying a Browning again.
Right now I can’t carry concealed. I keep saying I will go through the Florida process but jsut never seem to have the money or time. I think I would qualify as I still have a bunch of certificates from when I was certified by the NRA and State of Mississippi as an instructor, a firearms safety instructor and a hunter safety instructor. I think there are a total of six certificates in a manila envelope which I need to get out and go over.
Among them is a basic water safety instructor as the State of Mississippi learned they were losing more hunters to drowning than firearms accidents.
When I am just walking around my rural yard etc. I usually just stick a Unique model L in my pocket. It does not hit hard but is light and compact and unusual for a .22LR, is both accurate and reliable.
The only thing I have shot with it in the last few years are several venomous snakes.
but 7.62X39 in is OK?
“but 7.62X39 in is OK?”
I’m not a soldier. I can carry whatever I wish. I just think a US-made weapon would be more fitting. That’s a US company not getting a contract. I may be wrong, but SIG is German made, is it not?
And FYI, the 7.62x39 is my favorite round. About 20 hogs, 6 deer, coyotes, etc, some at ranges in excess of 300 meters speaks for itself. If your AK is a quality build, from a reputable plant, and if your scope is tight and right, you will hold 8” groups at 400 meters all day, every day, any day.
So, which US company loads your "Wolf," "TULA," "WPA," "Bear" ammo?
and if your scope is tight and right, you will hold 8 groups at 400 meters all day, every day, any day.
8" groups....wow....are you using air burst ammo?
It’s Winchester, actually. Let’s see you sink a hog in one lick from 338 yards with an AK that’s your age. I don’t much care for your ass hurt attitude, either. You seem jealous.
No ass hurt attitude here....I just pointed to some contradictions of your posts and used the info you provided bout yourself....... no jealousy on my part, cause IF you can hit a target with a commie gun that shoots 8" groups, then who am I to burst your bubble.
Didn’t Sig get a “consolation prize” in the form of the M11 designation for the p226 for purchase by civilian & military law enforcement? I seem to recall USAF OSI among others used the M11.

I think they won after an entirely different set of trials, but you could look at it that way.
Newly made RD and definitive arms makes models that can do around 4” @800. For about $2600. I don’t need that. I can kill a wild pig from 4 football fields with a standard kalash, as ling as my trash scope isn’t giving me backtalk. My scope is a trip.
Yes.
It’s a good gun, but I’m too wedded to my Glocks to go back to SIGs.
Army MP SRT and CID agents have carried Sig 9mm since the mid 1990s I personally carried one as a CID agent from 1999 till January of 2006. Only line MPs carried M9 the rest of us had the M11 which was made by Sig. I currently open carry the civilian version of the M11 whenever I’m not going into Dallas proper as the liberals have a fit if they see someone armed.
