The ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and environmentalist group Earthjustice have partnered to put on Facebook Live’s first-ever tel-a-thon as counter-programming to Friday’s presidential inauguration. Dubbed the “Love-a-thon,” the event will be held from 12:30 p.m. ET until 3:30 p.m. ET and will feature a variety of celebrities, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jane Fonda, and Judd Apatow.
A press release for the Love-a-thon said that the fundraising efforts are necessary as the next four years will bring “significant challenges” to these organizations.
“Each of these organizations helps our most marginalized communities and protects our democratic norms and civil liberties every day through their work. Over the next four years, they will also each face significant challenges to their existence. The Love-a-thon efforts will bring many people together to help in those fights.”
Welp. I’ll award points for creativity.
For what it’s worth, donations to Planned Parenthood have skyrocketed.

2016 was a terrible year for Hollywood and 2017 threatens to be even worse. With that, the big names in Hollywood are grandstanding their opposition to Trump in hopes of turning Hillary supporters into movie fans. Much of their sanctimonious slander of Trump revolves around the repetitive mischaracterization of the basket of deplorables who they wish to defame. It is a callus exploitative tactic. They think they can bolster their image in the liberal public who they hope will boost their movie sales.
Jane Fonda concerned about fundamental liberties. I seem to recall that she didn’t give a shit about those “liberties” for the So. Vietnamese, Cambodians or Laotians who died by the millions at the hands of her friends in Hanoi, the Pathet Lao, and the Khmer Rouge.
She once played a whore in a movie and quickly assumed that role for her political life. Nuff said!
