Please pardon the vanity, but in light of today's commutation of traitor Chelsea Manning's sentence, is there any doubt that Obama will pardon Bowe Bergdahl?
Obama has a much greater stake in Bowe Bergdahl than he ever had in the Chelsea Manning case. He had the Rose Garden ceremony with Bergdahl's parents where Obama ignored Bergdahl's desertion, misbehavior before the enemy, and that Americans died trying to rescue him. In addition, Obama put very heavy pressure on the Army to soft-pedal any criminal charges, or even avoid them completely.
Obama sees Bergdahl coming back to US as part of his "legacy" and a way to again denigrate our military. It is only Tuesday and Obama has 3 days left to grant the pardons that will really infuriate the public, especially the Armed Forces.
And yes, to answer a few legal questions, a pardon is absolute, cannot be revoked, and does not require a conviction before it is granted.
Call your Congressman tonight and demand Bergdahl not be released.
Joanne Chesimard?
Mumia Abu-Jamal?
The 1993 World Trade Center Bombers?
Barkhad Abdi?
Every Black drug dealer?
Don’t be surprised if he does. He already commuted the sentence of that little freak.
Why is a vanity in NEWS?
The Blind Sheik!!! Give Gitmo to Raul Castro!!
Because many are, because it asks an important question that is certain to be on the minds of both newsmakers and FReepers, may well predict the news, and because it denies you the ability to make the usual excuses you do for Obama.
Well why not pardon Bergdahl? Might as well pardon Johnny Taliban (John Lindh) sp?
You are right. I forgot about him.
You mean Bradley Manning? Don’t care what he calls himself while wearing lipstick, he’s still a traitor.
I believe Mumia, spit be upon him, is on a state charge. The kenyan can’t pardon him.
2016 Minnesota Vikings?
I ask a question and you do a personal attack ....
Apparently you do not like to abide by FR rules.
I expect Bergdahl’s pardon tomorrow.
Obutt gave Mumia’s lawyer a seat on the US Civil Rights Commission a couple weeks ago.
He might try, and that is what we used to call an “unsettled area of law.”
Yes! Our Congress-critters have been VERY effective at keeping Obama from doing things that piss us off the past 8 years! [/sarc]
I'm thinking that Jugears will pardon Bergdahl because he KNOWS it's the wrong thing to do for America, and especially for the morale of our military men and women...
It’s always possible, but less likely. Manning was already convicted and this was not a pardon, but a commutation. While a fairly foul act, Manning has been in prison for a while. Commuting the sentence is a payoff to both anti-war progressivesand the LGBT crowd and cements his “legacy,” which is all he cares about.
Bergdahl has not yet faced trial. Pardoning him is much more likely to reflect poorly on Obama in the short term, so I consider it less likely.
Sorry, but like many here, I’m tired of all your attacks on everyone and trying to set yourself up as more influential than even JimRob.
JimRob knows what may well be tomorrow’s headline, even if you do not.
“I’m thinking that Jugears will pardon Bergdahl because he KNOWS it’s the wrong thing to do for America, and especially for the morale of our military men and women...”
Exactly.
I hope you are right.
Splash, over!
Doesn't matter to me, I have no filter on the threads, I get them all........
I suspect most others do too........
