Hidden Figures is over-performing for the second weekend in a row as it had been forecast to finish the MLK frame with about $20 million at 3,286 sites. Hidden Figures topped Disney-Lucasfilms Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last weekend by about $700,000 with $22.8 million at 2,471 sites, then the studio added more than 800 screens for this weekend."
Looks suspiciously like Mrs. Obama.
Depends on the child, of course, but I’d say choose something else for a 5 year old.
“Hidden Figures” is the last film where Hollywood fictionizes history to fit their PC agenda. It’s about three black women who worked at NASA in the late 40s. It was before the days of real computers so they needed people to crunch the numbers so the engineers didn’t have to do it. Three of the human “computers” just happened to be black women. There was also white women doing the same work. NASA hired them not for the color of their skin but because of their ability. These women were all highly educated and highly competent mathematicians. They were not plucked out of some cotton field. Anyone who knows the history of NASA is familiar with the workers there from the early days, both black and white. The lead character in the film was a female mathmatician with a PHD. Who happened to be black. So what.
Meant to say “latest” film.
I am sure I will not be seeing withe one of them, though the wife may watch on Netflix once available there. She is more easily entertained by airhead crap.
Well, both males..............
LOL. Without being too specific, that applies to some of my family and my in-laws too.
There’s going to be a good movie coming out soon about a dog that looks real good, rated PG. Don’t remember the name. That might be good for a 5 yo.
That’s when I checked out too.
I picked it because it a movie does not have a good plot it should have guns, spaceships and explosions and it qualified on two out of three.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a decent plot as well.
I watch a lot of movies since I have a site where I stream them. Couldn’t tell you how many I shut down because they suck. I enjoyed The Accountant. Watched Passengers the other night. Ugh
Inferno was just a countinuation of Davinci Code
Sing (the kid movie) was cute
The Girl on the Train was drawn out
Jack Reacher hmmmmmm forgettable. Lol
The Accountant has a couple of blank spots they could have filled in with a little more backstory but other then that it had a decent script.
Wow he said that?
Jamie Fox is box office poison; from that point on I swore i'd never watch anything he is in. We even immediately change the channel when commercials he appears in are aired.
” We even immediately change the channel when commercials he appears in are aired. “
Lol, me too. Samuel L Jackson has also deserved this honor.
Jamie Foxx was brilliant as Ray Charles in the biopic “Ray”.
But he pretty much lost me as a movie goer when he called BO “Our Lord and Savior Barack Obama”...I don’t know what awards show he was talking about, but he lost me there.
Then he doubled down by trying to make a saint out of the guy who wanted to murder George Zimmerman. See ya later, Jamie.
I saw “Ray” and I liked it. But now Foxx is on my don’t watch list. I have pretty much stuck to it, and there are some big hit movies that I have passed on now because of the stars or political correctness.
