Washington (AFP) - Hillary Clinton will never run for office again after losing the US presidential election to Donald Trump in November after the most divisive campaign in memory, a confidante of the Democrat said on Sunday.
"I think she's going to figure out ways to help kids and families," Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress, a Democratic Party-connected think-tank told CNN. "That's been what she's been focused on her whole life, and a lot of issues that are affecting them, over the next couple of years."
"But I don't expect her to ever run for any elected office again," she added.
Tanden was reacting to a New York Times article speculating about whether Clinton would run for New York mayor against the incumbent Bill de Blasio, her former campaign chief.
"I don't expect her to run for this and I don't expect her to run for other office," Tanden said, without giving more specifics about the 69-year-old former secretary of state's plans.
"I think her job is to -- what she's thinking about right now is how to help those kids and families as she has her whole life."

Frankly, if she ever ran again it would make her even more of a loser, if that’s even possible.
I hope the loser, obese, sick, alcoholic, chronic liar, traitor criminal runs again and again. Multiple humiliations will be good for her. Of course, a dark, dank prison cell in a Fed SuperMax would be a good option.
Maybe she’ll run in Helll, challenging Satan’s rule there.
All that woman lives for is to be President.
As long as there is breath in her lungs and a media that will cover for all her health and integrity issues, I fully expect her to be back giving it another go in 2020.
Two things:
1. Dirt will come out.
2. Parkinsons.
Parkinsons or worse. There is something definitely wrong with her (besides her dark and evil soul).
I vividly remember her in 2013 after she resigned from Secretary of State saying this on a morning show. She repeatedly said that she has accomplished enough. I knew she was lying then, just as she is now.
HUH? What has she ever done for kids and families? Anythng besides use talking about them to promote herself?
I'd really like to know if she has ever done anything for kids and woman.
Promoting welfare in lieu of a work ethic is not helping.
That will be Hillary. She'll never really pass away. There will always be some lingering dark spark of her in the world, toiling in agony hungering for something forever beyond her reach

I'm glad Hillary is attending the inauguration. It's going to absolutely kill her to be sitting only a few feet away as Donald Trump takes the oath of office. Every once in a while, the cameras will catch a shot of her, sitting there stoned face, thinking to herself: "that should have been me....that should have been me." She will just have to sit there and stay quiet as Donald Trump is sworn in as our new president, knowing that she will never have that same experience.
