The ex-wife of energy tycoon T. Boone Pickens told her African-American chef to whip up black people food describing her ideal menu as fried chicken, BBQ ribs and corn bread for the guests at her $2,000-a-night Nevada ranch, a lawsuit charges.

“describing her ideal menu as fried chicken, BBQ ribs and corn bread”
Southern food would have sufficed to describe the menu.
I can see northerners thinking that, because the blacks that migrated north just brought southern cooking with them, so the yankees sometimes think they invented it.
Me, too. Love all of them. I grew up in the South and still live here and that is what we ate and still do. One Southern food I do not like is collard greens. Love turnip greens, though.
The moral of the story is...don’t hire blacks.
It really sucks, but it’s true.
Is there a link to the story so we can understand who these people are and who is reporting this?
Funny, the headline didn’t mention the suit was thrown out of court.
Lol.. Very good reminder.
I’d be willing to keep her busy!
As would Laz, I’m sure.
What a ninny!
“There is a sort of entitled wealthy American woman whose disregard for the feelings and humanity of other people is in my eyes unforgivable.”
You’re mistaken if you think there is anything uniquely American about that.
The best BBQ is always cooked by Black Guys. The White Guys who do it well probably learned from the Black Guys.
Nothing racial about it, probably family recipes.
My theory is back in the 18th and 19th century they didn’t have the prime cuts to work with so they used ingenuity and made them into something far, far superior. Well prepared and BBQ’d ribs, brisket, bread, and beans with an onion and pickle on the side is something to behold.
wow.. you can tell all that from a photo?
And how is this a matter for federal court? (But for Obama)
They opened a Popeye’s Chicken joint, closer to my house.
I like to go there some, for some black style food. Several of the employees are black, in keeping with the total image. They are polite, seem genuinely interested in my business.
Plus they have Wifi.
Strictly fried chicken tenders, fries and biscuits.
Would he have sued if she had requested he cook “soul” food?
My sentiments exactly.
She recruited token black people to work for her to show her tolerance and superior morality and then found that her world view brought her into personality conflict with the tokens she had hired.
Not really racists much as condescending.
In her mind she was being inclusive and tolerant by hiring black people and she saw them not as the best people for the job, but as her token black crew.
Truth of the matter is, it is generally very poor policy to put family members of extremely wealthy business tycoons in direct contact with hourly employees. The employees can't get over their jealousy and resentment but still try to ingratiate themselves personally with the rich facility members which makes for really bad interpersonal dynamics. Lots of negative work dynamics as employees strive to ingratiate themselves with flattery and kissing up to their wealthy masters while bad mouthing, undermining and marginalizing their co workers to gain advantage and promote themselves. These negative dynamics drive discord and resentment both employee to employee and employee to employers. On the other hand, most really rich people have very different life experience and mindsets combines with some personality quirks (some are real difficult, morons and/or asshats BTW - others are just dilettantes looking to entertain themselves. ) that really sets off the less fortunate employees. .
the price of arm candy....
Yup - I live in SC and I love all 3 of those items. I am not a fan of collard greens, though. But biscuits, friend chicken, ribs and corn bread? Sign me up! Maybe throw in a hush puppy or two while you are at it and a low country boil.
