Steve Sarkisian will assume the duties immediately.
In a deviation from the original plan, Lane Kiffin will not call plays for Alabama in the National Championship. Instead, he’ll head to FAU early and assume his head coaching duties.
The timing of this is fairly interesting. Kiffin was originally slated to stick around. Former Bama assistants Jim Mcelwain and Kirby Smart stuck around for the Tide balancing their new head coaching duties and coordinator responsibilities in Tuscaloosa.
Now the responsibility will fall to former Washington and USC coach Steve Sarkisian. Sark has been an offensive analyst with the Crimson Tide. He didn’t exactly impress folks with his playcalling at previous head coaching stops.

He’s a bully who screams at his coaches on the sideline. He’s a serial liar who’s left multiple jobs after saying he wouldn’t. And overall he’s just an ass. Given that Kiffin outright said he has ZERO good memories of life with Saban and he took a D list gig to get away from him I’m pretty sure Kiffin not only doesn’t appreciate him but outright hates him. Which is his due, Saban deserves hate, because he is a failed humanbeing.

This exactly. Anyone who thought that Alabama was going to run the ball up and down the field against this Washington defense just wasn't paying attention.

You are correct Bama didn’t start running the ball up and down the field until they started running the ball. After all the passing in the first half some ole boy ran up and down the field setting an all time bowl game record for AL with the most yards rushing.
Kiffin missed the team bus — again, 2nd year in a row — to the team’s media day session scheduled by the Peach Bowl. Lane has made a habit of this and I’m sure it didn’t sit well with Mr. Process, Nick Saban. Between under utilizing arguably his best running back during the Washington game, who by the way was averaging almost 10 yards/carry for the game, and not being repeatedly punctual, I suspect it was the last straw for Coach Saban. Lane, thanks but it’s time to move on.
Media day is dumb. And they won the game so clearly they didn’t under utilize the RB. And this is exactly the kind of petty abusive BS Saban is famous for. He’s a serial abuser, and a serial liar. And now he doesn’t have to give Lane a ring when the team wins the championship, I’m sure that makes the petty screamer very very happy.
IF Saban can keep Sark out of the gottle, he will be much more innovative than Kiff ifin. Lane ran Jalen too many times in the Semi game.
I going to postulate another reason Steve Sarkisian did not start early. He was Washington’s head coach until 2013 and recruited the seniors playing in the game. They may have wanted to keep him in the background until after the game.

Washington had 194 yards total (passing 150, rushing 44) offense for the whole game.
Bo Scarborough, running back for Alabama, had 180 yards rushing...some sort of bowl record.
Passing is what Alabama didn't do against Washington, only 57 yards.
I’m a Tennessee fan and I resent that! Kiffin just about forced me to hug a warm teddy bear with the snowflakes! He is the most dishonorable snake that ever donned a coaches uniform. Even his beautiful wife dumped him. We burned mattresses on his last night in Knoxville in an effort to smoke him out. Him and Odgeron left a trail of destruction behind him when he left Tennessee.
