OpenOffice.org has an Access-like database, if that’s what you’re looking for.
MYSQL and PostgreSQL may be more than what you are looking for.
They are all open source/free.

Access still around? Easy to use and not expensive on its own.
But I might be outdated. See what some others have to say.

Looking for more of an address-type program.

I highly recommend Filemaker Pro. Easy as pie, understandable, and affordable. You can buy an older copy for about $100 if you look around.
If you aren’t into the nuts and bolts, this has a small learning curve and huge upside as you learn more.

Ah. Didn’t see your price restriction. Heck, you could probably get Filemaker on Ebay for small money.

Outlook address book? If you have MS Office, you probably have Outlook.

Would prefer something stand alone. Had Hold Anything for Windows, which I loved, but the upgrade to Windows 7 made me love Windows OS less than I did before because they screwed me on Hold Anything, which now doesn’t work. No further comment.

Have you tried a compatibility mode for that program for an earlier version of Windows?

Wouldn’t work. Tried it several different ways. Wonder if I can recover the database file to import into another program?

Can I ask, what are you trying to do with such a program?

Oh OK. Yeah, that’s kind of hit or miss on trying to get those programs to work on newer versions of Windows but it’s worth the try.

I highly recommend Filemaker Pro.
I used to love using its predecessor -- an even earlier version than this -- back in the day.
To: Conservative Gato
Tried that. Tried it several ways. Would not work.
