I do love Windows 10. For me it has made Windows into an operating system that I really enjoy using. But there are also a couple of things about how it operates that annoy both me, and power users. Essentially, Windows Updates are a pain and force users to restart at times that aren't convenient, or might automatically reboot a computer with no notice.
Users, like Sergey Tkachenko from WinAero, on the Windows Insider preview program have noticed that a new option has been added to the Windows Update system that allows them to defer all updates for as long as 35 days...
Some versions of Windows 10 (Pro, Enterprise and Education) have a control marked "defer updates" already. This is similar, and hold new features back for long enough for any serious problems to come to light. That's fine for business, but no use for home users who would have to spend the $99 updating to Windows 10 Pro to take advantage of this option...
I do find the way Windows 10 handles updates enormously frustrating, and while this change is welcome I don't think it goes far enough. I'm quite happy for Windows to apply security updates for Defender on its own, but if an update will auto-trigger a reboot then I feel like I should be consulted.
Now, there is a way to stop Windows 10 from rebooting itself after an update...

Would prefer new or at least truly a refurb straight from the factory.
It IS a step backwards.
Having to download crap to watch a video?
DBL, K5..I dont know what the ### all these apps are bringing to my laptop and you dont know what’s being sneaked into your phone.
Windows 7 for me.
If there’s a better OS, I’ll get it next time.
There’s also rumors Windows 10 wants to start charging a few bucks to use it.
You can buy Windows 7 cd’s from Ebay. Pages of them.
I tried Win10 out on my primary laptop. Fortunately, I installed it on a new hard drive and was able to just swap the original back in after a month of nearly constant difficulties. I also have a “convertible” tablet with a keyboard which came with Win10 installed. It causes a certain amount of frustration every time I try to use it, but it was only $99 and it does basically what I bought it for. So I have no real complaints.
It is no surprise to me that Microsoft had to basically resort to tricking people into upgrading. It was built for something other than helping people be productive.

weirdly enough, the 15” ones are less expensive than the 14” inch ones right now.
these are fine laptops, btw. I’ve bought several for clients.
i5 CPU is more than most people need. real speed comes from the HD; 7200rpm .5-1GTB. even better, buy a samsung evo 850 .5TB SSD and clone the dell one onto that and then put the SSD into the laptop.
4GB is good. if you need more, buy samsung memory sticks off on amazon and put them in yourself.
Intel® Core i3-6100U Processor (3M Cache, 2.30 GHz)
Mostly want a newer laptop with Win 7 to backup my ancient Dell laptop with Xp. It still works, but slow as hell. Wife has a 3150 laptop with Win 8 that I hate to "help" her with. Deems a nice machine other than the memory card reader going Tango uniform.
Seems fast enough, but I have this desktop for speed if I am doing CAD.
