Maybe Eisenhower for his service, but he was an adulterer. Reagan wasn’t perfect either. In any event, I thinks ships should be named only after honorable naval personnel deceased in battle or after notable naval battle locations.

Or named for old ships.

Enterprise. Intrepid...that kind of stuff.

But it does satisfy our touchy-feely sentiment.

A hole in the “head”

I don’t remember the details/facts, but I also think that another ship was recently named after a (long-time, democrat) politician, who had never even served in the military.

“..satisfy our touchy-feely sentiment...”

Not “ours”. Neither yours, nor mine.

The people who do... well, they’re not ours at all.

Now all the carriers are named after politicians. It’s sad. At this point they should only be revolutionary war battle names.

“Who in he&& has the authority to name these boats after idiots, especially idiotic leftists? What a disgrace!”

Look no further than the Secretary of the Navy, a political appointee.
Sec of the Navy has full discretion as to naming of naval vessels.

There are two of them: John Lewis, the rat, and the infamous Harvey Milk.

I don’t think anyone would disagree that we need to get back to the more traditional protocols for naming naval vessels.

Yeah, I agree. The naming of boats has morphed into a political football, like everything else these days. Politics is being shoved down our throats on an hourly basis these days. I’m sick of it.

Rename it the U.S.S. Pittman after MOH winner Richard Pittman. He just passed away in October and I don’t believe he has ever had a ship named after him. I heard him speak once as a young Marine and he was a very humble man...

Disgusting. Poor sailors are going to be forced to serve on these floating laughing stocks. Is the North Korean Navy going to be shaking in their dungarees when the SS Milk and SS Giffords show up?

Her sole claim to fame was being shot by a raving leftist lunatic, and she gets a ship named for her?
