A naval program that has become a target for critics is preparing to commission a new vessel named after a well-known shooting survivor.
Constructed by Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama, the USS Gabrielle Giffords has completed testing in the Gulf of Mexico and is scheduled to be commissioned in mid-2017. The company handed over the $475 million ship to the Navy on Friday.

Naming a ship after someone who did nothing more than get shot by one of her own voters... and who is a certified Gun Grabber?
Ridiculous.
I remember a time when w enamed our ships after battles, states and things much more important.

There's still time to name the USS Gentle Giant and the USS Trayvon.

The ship has not been commissioned yet. I wonder if Trump can change her name to...I don’t know...perhaps someone who gave his life while serving in the navy.

Who in he&& has the authority to name these boats after idiots, especially idiotic leftists? What a disgrace! These namings likely lead back to Valerie Jarrett.
Naming boats after politicians should stop.

Ridiculous to christen a US Navy ship on the name of a politician who happened to have been shot in the head. Idiotic

Irony: LCS Independence-class are armed with 11-missile launcher system, Mark 38 25mm and 57mm guns.

Ray Mabus. He's a rump ranger from Mississippi that has been micro managing the Navy since Obama made him SECNAV. I hope Trump kicks his butt out the minute he's sworn in.
To: C19fan
Trump will change this.
I bet he will announce the name change during his first week in office.
To: bkopto
As in the Stennis, Eisenhower, and Reagan? I tend to agree with you though.

Thanks. I found out that he is also responsible for the USS John P Murtha and naming a ship after Cesar Chavez!
This klown Mabus was in the Navy for only 2 years as a junior lieutenant and, of course, went to Harvard law school.

Used for shallow(coincidence?) waters, a littoral ship. Why does it have a gun on it? Oh, I musta forgot that she and margabby are both supporters of the 2nd amendment. As long as it’s infringable.
