CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Salvation Army said donations for its Red Kettle campaign are way down from last year.
On Tuesday, The Salavation Army said donations were down by nearly $2 million dollars in Northeast Ohio.
Last year, the agency collected nearly $4.8 million over the holiday season.
"Thousands of people in our community are hurting and we are committed to doing all we can to raise the necessary funds to support those needs," Major Evan Hickman, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army's Northeast Ohio Division said in a news release.

The liberal left I have come in contact with have not put up Christmas Trees, sent greeting cards, or have really withdrawn from gift giving. Earlier this month we saw many firms cancel "holiday" parties due to Trump winning the election.
It is truly sad that something like donations to an organization that does so much good are taking this kind of hit.
How is this possible? We have record low unemployment under Obamafuehrer. The economy is roaring! People should have lots of money to donate to charities.
Get Ezekiel Elliott to jump in the kettle again. That should help donations. It did in Dallas.
It’s a matter of never having cash. At least for me. I use plastic for everything.
Send them a Check, as I do.
Couldn’t q Cleveland football player jump into the Salvation Army pot?
Beat me to ti!
Sorry S. A. but the snowflakes spent all their loose change on coloring books. Better luck next year!
You’re right. I have to scrounge around in my handbag to find quarters and dimes and stuff for the kettle. This year I managed to scrounge up two bucks! I think this is a major problem for the nice people who man the kettle.
Me too. I feel horrible passing them up. Go get 20-$1 dollar bills next season and use it just for the kettle.
Many try PayPal or GoFundMe?
Lots of people don’t carry change anymore.
Romo in the kettle? That should be good for a least a dozen old homemade cassette tapes. Just first rewind the cassettes nice and tight with a sharpened No.2 pencil.
I will not pass a kettle without putting at least a dollar in.I worked in a plumbing department years ago and helped a Salvation Army employee put together a special shower. We used plastic panels and purely purposeful hardware. It had to be extra large and have sturdy grab bars and a bench. The purpose was to allow two people to clean up a filthy derelict who was too inebriated to stand on his own. God bless the people who find this their calling in life.
This just reminds us once again that liberals are cheap bastards and always have been.
“This just reminds us once again that liberals are cheap bastards and always have been.”
No, just with their money.
When it comes to spending **my** or your money, why - the sky’s the limit!
No donation is to big or to small! LOL
When I saw it I thought..... Damn, Jerry threw away a perfectly good white boy!
