The nations vice president and a retired Marine Corps general were among the dignitaries, family members and other mourners who choked up Saturday during a memorial tribute to the late space hero John Glenn.
Roughly 2,500 people gathered at Mershon Auditorium on the Ohio State University campus for a celebration of life for the former fighter pilot, history-making astronaut and longtime Democratic U.S. senator from small-town Ohio. Was that HUD, S&L or some other incident of theft from the American people?
He didn’t ask John Glennn to stand up did he??
I can remember my disappointment when he declared himself to be a democRAT.
and Himself couldn’t be bothered to start his multi-million dollar vacay a day later in order to attend. well, after all he needs his rest for the remaining month of this job.
Democrats tend to see death as oblivion, and their members who have died to be non-persons, so they typically turn their funerals into political rallies, hoping to capitalize on the tears of loved ones to political advantage.

Good one
Great man until he became a senator. Sold his vite to clinton for one last trip into space.
from New York Times article, Nov. 13, 1983:
Greg Schneiders had just arrived at his cluttered office in the Hart Senate Office Building when the telephone rang. Glenn was calling from his condominium in Vail, Colo. The Senator had earlier told an arms-control group in Iowa that if the Russians dropped a warning bomb in a remote area of the United States, he would not respond in kind. Then, a couple of weeks later, Glenn reversed himself. Now, he was calling Schneiders to ask how the newspapers were playing his change of position.
Biden couldn’t carry the man’s jock. And I say that even though with the opinion that glenn went sideways once he got to DC and the levers of power, as a democrat.
Yep; agree totally. He was described as “excess baggage.”
