Dutch Prime Minister Implies He Will Sign EU Treaty With Ukraine Despite Dutch 'No' in Referendum

The prime minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte (of the supposedly classically liberal VVD party), says in an interview with Dutch website Nu.nl that he realizes that signing the EU treaty with Ukraine could cost him votes. Still, he implies, he intends on doing so.

The hypocritical prime minister who, for months, pretended he'd take the referendum results seriously (more than 60 percent of the Dutch voted against the treaty in a referendum earlier this year), has no actual intent of doing so. Yes, he says, he realizes that it may cost him some votes, but hey, he's the Prime Minister, which means he knows what's best. Those foolish voters could share their opinion, but there's nobody to force him to respect their wishes. And so he'll do what his European paymasters in Brussels want him to.

"I realize that ratifying the treaty will cost me votes. However, that decision is mine to make as a politician. Even if I get legally binding statements that the treaty can't result in a future EU-membership for the Ukraine, some folks are bound to be angered. At least I did everything I could to take away most of their concerns. Still, I don't expect every voter who voted against the treaty in the referendum to celebrate my decision."

Oh, how kind of him not to "expect" such a thing! How open-minded! It's truly impressive and inspiring.

This is how liberals operate, clearly. We’re seeing it here too, with the variety of ways Obama and Hillary are trying to overturn the election. They start out saying “I represent the will of the people,” when they are confident that the people are on their side. But if it turns out the people aren’t, well... in that case, they’ll do what they think is best for you.

I am glad he has the courage of his convictions.
I hope the next PM can simply cancel the treaty.

Governments need to start fearing the people, not the other way around. The 60% need to show up at his door and make it clear that he will not survive his decision.

After Brexit and the other events of the past year, The global elitists are begin to realize that "democracy" has turned on them, so now they are taking off the masks and proving what many suspected all along, that the people really have no say, democracy is just convenient illusion, and that the Kings and Emperors of days gone by never went away, they were just replaced by globalists and technocrats.

The Globalists have learned their lesson though, I'm betting you are going to see less and less public referendums and "free and fair" elections allowed in the future on the grounds that the average citizen is to easily influenced by "fake news" or doesn't have the mental capacity to understand what is best for them.

I lived in Holland for 42 months before moving to a Flemish community in Belgium when the EU came into being. From the moment the EU took over, even the "national politicians" of each country have done the EU's bidding. So sad a situation. The English are having the same problems. The USA has three embassies in Brussels, one to the EU, one to Belgium and one to NATO. My experience there was with DoD but my final eight years in government was with Dept of State. The multiple layers of political representation in each nation has resulted in citizens being subjected to Rule-without-Representation. The EU was devised to strip each nation's citizens of their vote - but it has led to situations as this where even a politician beholden to the state no longer carries out their duties, but slips into the rule of the EU.

The only way out of this situation is to remove the Royal families in Europe from living on public assistance. In Holland, Belgium, England and elsewhere (except Russia), these people still run the countries through their ceremonial positions. It is as if the people are mere surf's of a vassal state at this point.

Yup, sure was in Europe and at State; Hillary and her staff along with Kennedy should all be in jail. If Trump wanted me to look at State’s systems now that I’m retired I would help!
