The world's oldest woman has celebrated another birthday, as she turned 117 today.
Italian woman Emma Morano is the last known person alive to have been born in the 19th century, and the oldest person on record in the world.
She celebrated the landmark day by enjoying a birthday cake wth her carers in her home in Verbania, a town in northern Italy on Lake Maggiore.

Congrats to Mrs. Normal!
The italian diet is a great one.
Was in great shape till i move out 20 years ago and started eating out a lot.
117. Wow. Mom is 84 and drives 3 hours each way to visit her sister still. Everybody early to late 80s and pretty much fine.
My heart’s so enlarged I’m surprised it doesn’t stand out when i wear a T shirt :)
Wow, born the same year as my grams.
Her current diet:
Breakfast: a little milk and some biscuits
Lunch: semolina with a boiled egg
Dinner: milk
She also eats two raw eggs and some minced meat each day.
Good for her. We had a lot of eggplant and macaroni with beans, lentils, etc.
I like her diet better!
from the article I linked:
She also eats two raw eggs a day, ever since a doctor advised her that it would be good for her health when she was diagnosed with anemia at the age of 20. She has maintained the regime ever since.
And didn’t die from high cholesterol :)
Another lady who reached, I think, 116, an American, drank 3 Dr. Peppers a day for 50 or so years.
My sister is a Nurse Practitioner. She remembers treating a FIVE hundred pound woman a year before she died at 65.
I forgot what she was treating her for, but she had been that weight for maybe 30 years.
I put the numbers into a lifespan calculator and she should have died at around 36. Go figure.
Susannah Jones, who died last year at age 116 (she was born a few months before Morano), ate a breakfast every morning of bacon and eggs, then snacked on bacon throughout the day. She had been doing that for much of her life.
Let me guess. She smokes 2 packs a day and has 3 double vodkas a night.
It was only 2-1/2 months ago that they told us the oldest person still alive was an Indonesian named Mbah Gotho, born December 31, 1870.

If any of us make it that long, people will be saying: “Wow! Just think.....when he was born, there was no internet, no smart phones, no flat screen TVs, no self driving cars,.....”

My kids are astounded there was no cable TV and the TVs were black and white with no remote.
Happy birthday to her!

That would make him 145.
There are people older than this that are still voting in Philthadelphia.
“657 of them are registered to vote in Philadelphia... “
