Who Vegas Is Now Picking to Win the 2016 College Football National Title
After close to three months full of shocking upsets, legendary individual performances, and games we wont forget, we finally reached the point in the 2016 college football season where we can accurately separate the national title contenders from the pretenders. Needless to say, quite a bit has changed since the first month of the season.
Teams like Florida State, Houston, Stanford, and Louisville all thought to be among the top national championship contenders in the country have proven to be pretenders. Then there are teams such as Penn State, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Oklahoma State, who all came out of nowhere to emerge as potential national title contenders if things break right for them over the next couple of weeks.
As we head into college football rivalry weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide seem well on their way to defending their 2015 College Football Playoff (CFP) national championship. But do the oddsmakers in Las Vegas, who prove to be extremely accurate in their projections, agree? Heres a look at the teams they give the best odds to win the 2016 CFP National Championship Game.

As of today, the Crimson Tide are the heavy favorites to win the 2016 CFP national championship. Regardless of how the next two weeks play out, Alabama has likely already done enough to ensure they land a spot in the four-team playoff. This means that everything is set up perfectly for them to make a run at winning their fifth national title in eight years.

just as a point of reference, whom did vegas pick for president?
What is absolutely needed is a 64 team play off— then we actually know like every other college sport. This deal is rigged and pathetic and I give no credence to the hand picking of political favorites. The whole thing bores me to tears.

This is a non article. Bama vs. the rest of the NCAA. The odds of Bama loosing are not high. The only teams that could seriously challenge Bama is Michigan or Ohio State, call me crazy as a Badger fan I hate both of them. Ohio state took out Bama a couple years ago. Michigan with J Harbough destroyed Florida last year in the bowl game. Bama owns everyone else. Hope I’m wrong.
Such playoff arrangement would take too long. I would like to see playoffs done away with altogether--go back to the bowl system, with each bowl having its own tradition instead of being a mere playoff, and let coaches, writers or computer models determine the national champion.
If you are going to go back a few years, be fair and tell us what happened last time Michigan played Alabama.
Your 64 team playoff would render college football meaningless. Football is a once a week game, unlike basketball. They can play numerous rounds and the final four over a weekend. Basketball also has a lot more teams. Under your plan half the teams in the country would make the playoff, crap records and all. Your plan rewards mediocrity, not excellence.
You’d have every tom, dick, and harry in the tournament, take a chunk of the regular season and render the sport a far bigger joke than you currently think it is. And I really doubt you are much of a college football fan, just a crank.
Nana will beat anyone this year. I’m a hot fan and can’t stand them but...
In every game I’ve watched them play they are simply in a different level.
It’s not star players or break away plays. They are just better - all around better. Position by position.
You won’t get lucky and win against them. You won’t out play them. You won’t out coach them.
Impressive team this year.
Well, Nana made a great Thanksgiving dinner for sure ;-)
I think the University of Washington Huskies will take the national title.
That was my very first thought also.
Between my poor spelling and the auto correct, it did make for an amusing post.
Weren’t they heavy favorites 2 years ago when the Buckeyes dispatched them with a 3rd string quarterback?
Bama.
No relation to o-bama, who’s an utter loser.
Got my purple on today! GO DAWGS!
A few years ago is not relevant to this year. Coaches or players. I like the game and have no favorites that are relevant.
