Cement, the ubiquitous material used to build roads, buildings and other infrastructure, absorbs about one billion tons of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, according to a new study published Monday in the journal Nature Geoscience.
But concrete carbonation is “not currently considered in emissions inventories” kept by the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), according to the study’s co-authors, an international team of researchers led by Professor Dabo Guan of the U.K.’s University of East Anglia.
The study found that cement’s natural carbonation process not only offsets the fossil fuel emissions released during its production, it also “represents a large and growing net sink of CO2” that has not been taken into account by the IPCC. …

I seem to recall a few decades ago the ‘greenies’ were complaining about there being too much concrete in cities.
They will find something to complain about. That is what they do. If it isn’t the ozone layer, it is overpopulation, or carbon emissions, or fossil fuels, or paper bags, or plastic bags. Their list is endless.

1 bllion, 10 billion- 100 billion- it is still dwarfed by the earth’s atmosphere at 6 quadrillion tons- man’s Co2 takes up exactly 0.00136% of the atmosphere- that’s it folks- aint no way in hell 0.00136% of the atmosphere is capable of capturing and releasing enough heat to warm anything- let alone an entire planet- Take and pour by volume, 0.00136% of 100 degree water into a pool of 90 degrees and see what happens- nothing- that’s what- (That would be like pouring a cup of 100 degree water into an average above ground swimming pool or so I’m guessing- Maybe even less than a cup- not sure how much 0.00136% of the pool would be- but it aint much)
This was a problem in the Biosphere II project, if I recall. When CO2 is absorbed by concrete, plants can’t turn it into O2.

I’m going to guess they also fail to take into account the billions of tons of garbage that goes into landfills each year, locking the carbon into the ground again.
I suspect the IPCC model doesn’t account for anything that disproves its narrative.
The model is useless. That is the point. The commie left try to brainwash their supporters into thinking AGW theory is settled science with 99% support among “scientists”. Nothing could be further from the truth. AGW theory is weak at best, disproven at worst, and the model is useless.
