Reality they are not self sufficient, don’t even have enough domestic water supplies for their populations, so watching them collapse should they ever actually go through with it would be laughable to watch.
They would wind up invaded and defeated by Mexico in under 50 years.
He11, CA was invaded and defeated by Mexico 40 years ago. I know, I lived in San Diego then.
Then the following Spring after the Mexican military takeover of the former state, the US could invade and take it back and set up blessedly lib free provisional government. Sounds like a plan.

CA would have to get really good, really quickly, at desalination if they were an independent nation. That, and they'd have to keep their invaders with CA driver's licenses.
Downside is something a poster pointed out a few days ago. If CA were in charge of CA, it would be a mess. Who knows what horrific groups would end up controlling it,?

they import electricity, eggs, and I think petroleum as well because of their ridiculous regulations, prohibition on oil drilling, and green energy nonsense.
Things would get bad fast and the illegals would POUR into neighboring states, as well as the citizens, who would infest other states.
