President-elect Donald Trump has been deeply impressed with Senator Jeff Sessions, his transition team said on Thursday of the longtime supporter who is under consideration for secretary of defense and attorney general. "While nothing has been finalized and he is still talking with others as he forms his Cabinet, the president-elect has been unbelievably impressed with Senator Sessions and his phenomenal record as Alabama's Attorney General and U.S. Attorney," the team said in a statement.

He will think twice before taking him out of the Senate. Maybe the best roll for Sessions will be that of a Senator...at least for now.

Sessions was one of the first ‘Big Names’ to come out in support of Trump while the rest of the political class was laughing

...

I think Trump and Sessions have at the least been acquaintances for over 20 years.

I hope he leaves Sessions in the Senate.
There are very few Senators on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.

Ayotte, Kirk, Rubio, Flake, McCain, lake, Hatch, Hoeven, Graham, Heller, Murkowsky, Alexander and Corker all voted for the Gang of Eight amnesty bill.
Ayotte and Kirk were the only ones to be removed from office for their perfidy.
McCain, Murkowsky, Hoeven and Rubio were rewarded with another term.
Hatch, Heller,, Corker and Flake are up in 2018 and should be removed.
We remove Graham and Alexander in 2020.

OUR Senator Sessions . . .

I also completely agree with you.

However, I did hold my nose and vote for Shelby...

Sessions should have the pick of any position he wants.

He stood firm long before others . Yes, Rudy did to but that is different. Sessions was a member of Congress bucking almost everyone for Trump

I believe Trump is punking the press by throwing names out there. He is meeting with these people because they put their resumes in, but that does not mean they are under serious consideration.

SecDef is a stupid, useless position. Sessions for AG. If not him, Kris Kobach. DO NOT even consider the phony Trey Gowdy or the unreliable and hyper-political Ted Cruz.

In 86 Reagan nominated him for the district court and Justice department leftists vilified him to deny him the appointment. It would be nice to see him run that whole show.

93, I thought he was 96...close enough : )

GHWB is 92
David Rockefeller is 100
George Schultz is 95
Jimmy Carter is 92
Prince Philip is 95

I think these famous, rich, powerful men know something we don’t know re: longevity!

MSNBC must be very scared of Sessions. Last night Maddow had a big feature story about how Sessions called some black kid “Boy” about 50 years ago. They’re desperate.

DO NOT even consider the phony Trey Gowdy or the unreliable and hyper-political Ted Cruz.

Could not agree more.

Gowdy folds like a cheap suit. He caved in to Hillary's wish to testify in public about Benghazi.....she came out smelling like a rose.

Trey is really dumb not to have seen that coming.

And Cruz? P-u-l-eeze. No frickin' way.

You can count on one hand the number of Senators who have consistently sided with the citizens and the rule of law.
Vitter retires at the end of this session, so we’re losing one as it is.

They all have the best level of health care, plus, they all feel necessary in the world today. For some (Like Carter), that is a delusion based on vanity and little more.
Prince Phillip feels necessary, I’m guessing, because The Queen still needs him by her side. He has always been her alter-ego, providing a little balance in the high pageantry and pretense of Buckingham life.

Lucky for Trump Alabama is a conservative state with a Republican governor. However, Bentley, the governor, is a real piece of work, having an affair with a married woman and using taxpayer funds to get her to his hooch when he was out of town. Not a lot of money, basically using the state police airplane to fly her somewhere... Still, an impeachable offense.

Last I heard the Republican legislature was considering impeaching him, but that news got swallowed up in the election. Maybe he is lucky and they dropped it. Trump needs to lean on Bentley hard and let him know that he wants Jeff to select his own successor. I trust Jeff to pick a good one. And Bentley’s ethical issues make him vulnerable to be leaned on.

That makes sense. Prince Philip has access to Prince Charles vast organic gardens/foods. I recall a couple of years ago when he really looked like he was at death’s door. It was reported he had some kind of unnamed surgery for his unnamed ailment, with months of recovery, and now he looks 15 years younger.
