NEW YORKPresident-elect Donald Trump said that, after conferring with President Barack Obama, he would consider leaving in place certain parts of the Affordable Care Act, an indication of possible compromise after a campaign in which he pledged repeatedly to repeal the 2010 health law.
In his first interview since his election earlier this week, Mr. Trump said one priority was moving quickly on the presidents signature health initiative, which he argued has become so unworkable and expensive that you cant use it.
Yet, Mr. Trump also showed a willingness to preserve at least two provisions of the health law after the president asked him to reconsider repealing it during their meeting at the White House on Thursday
Mr. Trump said he favors keeping the prohibition against insurers denying coverage because of patients existing conditions, and a provision that allows parents to provide years of additional coverage for children on their insurance policies.

WSJ. I will wait and see, as we all now how the media are today.
Misleading. It will be completely reworked. Likely those with pre-existing conditions will be included in high risk pools. The plan is to allow states to experiment with different solutions.
So much crap being reported in an attempt to paint Trump as backing down.
Every newspaper, website, etc. will spend the next 11 weeks trying to guess what Mr. Trump will do.
Their only purpose of this is attract readers.
Ignore them.
He has to keep those things.
They are the political “poison pills” the Democrats
buried in the bill.
Trump is not stupid enough to short-circuit himself as
W did with Social Security reforms.
The Reps have been saying the same thing for years. Those are the two most popular facets of the ACA. They can be incorporated into the replacement plan.
Trump has been saying “repeal and replace” for ages. It has nothing to do with anything Obama said to him.
coverage for Pre-existing conditions will have to be kept... but those people will have to pay more, period.
the age thing isn’t important and could easily be kept in place at the state level if they so wish again by parents paying a little extra to cover their older kids.
big whoop
If he says the pre-existing condition and keeping kids til 26 pieces then he needs to let the insurance companies work out the numbers. If it’s truly portable and competitive, companies will try to keep those costs down.
Remove the MANDATE.
You have got to be kidding He LIED!!!
Yes, he is. Like the one that allows insurance plans to be offered across state lines.
Which only makes sense.
Please do not believe everything you hear.
Well, sure. Some aspects of ObamaCare might have to be kept in place temporarily, while it is dismantled piece by piece and ultimate dies a well-deserved death.
Nobody wants to see sick people going without care but bankrupting the healthcare system isn’t really helping anyone in the long run. the ACA needs repealed and replaced with a system that better balances compassion with capitalism.
I personally need that pre existing condition exclusion. I can’t get insurance because I have sleep apnea. I have had to resort to short term medical insurance that rolls every six months.
I have contemplated doing Liberty Healthshare but still keeping a cheap insurance as a back up. Waiting to see what Trump does.
I’m going to give him some slack on what he says. Part of conservatives’ problem is we make sweeping statements that scare people — we are going to completely take it away. If Trump sounds reasonable and gets rid of most of it, or coverts it to a market-based system like Ryan proposed, I’ll be happy.
The Cry Baby Wall Street Journal. Can’t trust anything it says.
The prohibition against denying coverage for existing conditions was the one part of the ACA that I thought was good. Insurers already cover existing conditions in all the employer-provided policies I’ve ever had, so it’s clear they can do it.
Premiums could be based on actuarial analysis, just like life insurance premiums are.
We have four adult children and three of them are over the age of 21. We made them get their own policies once they were done with college because....THEY ARE ALL GROWN UP NOW! I can’t believe people pay for their kids’ health insurance over the age of 21.
Now...about the preexisting condition requirement. I totally understand it from the standpoint of the insurance companies. Why should they have to insure someone who will cost them a lot of money? That’s not insurance. But, what would be the free market solution to this? My son had cancer a few years ago and while he’s a big time libertarian, he told me that he’s very grateful for that provision. His cancer could come back at any time, although he is cancer free now, thank the Lord.
The same WSJ which said always Trump was always well down.
