SCIENTISTS have claimed that death may not be as final as we once feared and that humans have souls that can leave the body after their hosts kick the bucket.
It may sound like a supernatural myth, but the idea that human consciousness lives on after death has been put forward by a number of well-respected scientists.

Christians in Great Britain?
“eerie theory that humans have souls”
“during one near death experience he claimed he was blocked from entering heaven by a bunk of laughing angels who smelled like aftershave.”
“Another vision say him bathed in the “aura of an Asiatic goddess” while another supernatural force made him think he was a husky dog bounding thrugh the Artic.”
I’ve always found that if you use the word “Quantum” in a sentence, you can claim anything at all and people will believe you.
humans have souls that can leave the body after their hosts kick the bucket.
Souls are a philosophical quest. A quest worthy of effort. But we will only scratch the surface. Note the article has no mention of God.
For the philosophers, here are the NT references to souls:
Mat_10:28 “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Mat_16:26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
Mat_22:37 Jesus replied, “’You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
Mat_26:38 He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.”
Mar_8:36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
Mar_8:37 Is anything worth more than your soul?
Mar_12:30 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’
Mar_14:34 He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.”
Luk_1:46 Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.
Luk_2:35 As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”
Luk_10:27 The man answered, “’You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Luk_16:23 and his soul went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.
Joh_12:27 “Now My soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came!
Act_2:27 For You will not leave My soul among the dead or allow Your Holy One to rot in the grave.
1Th_5:23 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
Phm_1:19 I, PAUL, WRITE THIS WITH MY OWN HAND: I WILL REPAY IT. AND I WON’T MENTION THAT YOU OWE ME YOUR VERY SOUL!
Heb_4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
2Pe_2:8 Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.
Now what I find interesting is that Jesus has a soul? (see above) OT references have a lot of “heart and soul”. Does God have a soul?
And all this while I thought death would just be the Little Bang!
"He has set eternity in their hearts." (Ecclesiastes 3:11) It's baked in the cake.
God made ALL of the Natural to manifest the Supernatural. That's what "the Natural" is there for. He communicates through the Natural, because just as God is Author of the Book of Scripture, He is also Author of the Book of Nature.
And His usual mode is to communicate through these many natural, secondary causes, including ourselves. "Normally, God acts normally."
'Course it depends on what you mean by 'existentialism'--- But my own experience is that existentialism solemnly confirms and accentuates the willed action of swallowing nonsense whole.
It's speeding up as you approach the brick wall.
Yeh those of us who read the Bible already knew that. :-)
I’ve been kicking this same idea around for almost twenty years now. Neat...
Indeed.
I think about these things a lot. We have the sensation of living, of feeling, but when you look at the physical mechanisms, everything that we experience is based in chemical reactions, in purely physical molecular events.
I'm a biochemist; I understand this very clearly.
So this leads to more questions. How can chemical reactions--even millions of them occurring simultaneously--equate to being alive? Certainly, we can replicate these reactions in the lab--but we do not create life by doing so. Can we say that the reactions are a necessary prerequisite for a soul, and that a soul is necessary to give those reactions the sensation of life?
Oh, sweet catch!
An interesting article on possible scientific proof for the soul.
Well, death makes the need to truly live all that more important. The whole thing is about life, not death.
So, we have to be sincere, if we truly believe in God.
We seek the truth.
Researchers said that, did they?
Thanks for the ping. I read the article. Use of the word “quantum” doesn’t constitute scientific proof.
Related question: what is present in a living cell that isn’t present in a dead cell?
Oh, I’m not disputing truth as it is uncovered by the study of quantum physics and mechanics. I’m just saying that so few people understand, it, that any half-baked bit of speculation can grab the label “This is Quantum Science!” and people will say, “Well, alrighty them.”
Reminds me of Shakespeare: "There is more in heaven and earth than is dreamt of in your philosophies Horatio."
OK, ready for this? Einstein did not believe in death. Einstein is dead. Einstein still has no believe in death.
