Days after Rolling Stone magazine published a shocking 9,000-word story about a brutal gang rape at the University of Virginia in November 2014, the magazines editors received an email just before 2 a.m. with Our worst nightmare in the subject line. They needed to run a retraction, the reporter said.
Instead, Rolling Stone kept the article on its website for four months before finally pulling it down that April and officially retracting the story.
That decision was enough to convince a federal jury in Charlottesville on Friday that the magazine defamed a university administrator, who claimed she was cast as the chief villain in the now-discredited story A Rape on Campus.
The 10-person jury found also found that journalist Sabrina Rubin Erdely and the magazines publisher were responsible for libel, with actual malice.

its long past time for the fictional “journalists” to pay a steep price for the damage they do

Think we need to be clear who actually experienced a nightmare, and who caused it.

Hopefully their ‘worst nightmare’ will continue into complete bankruptcy.................
which is what they deserve!

Agreed. I hope they pay a stiff price for the damage they did.
To: Olog-hai
With malice. That’s gonna cost them big time.

it begs the question: if colleges have such a ‘rape culture’, why can’t proponents find a single real rape to illustrate their point?
especially since most college students are female, and males are guilty by accusation and have no rights in disciplinary proceedings.
why no real, provable rapes???

I hope they award her enough to put Rolling Stone out of business! I don't they will, but hopefully they leave only enough that the Phi Kappa Psi suit will bankrupt them!
The Phi Kappa Psi fraternity is a national fraternity, and they can sue that they national brand was damaged. BIG BUCKS!!

I hope it bankrupts the liberal asswipe magazine. If they had stayed on track and on music and the arts and not into politics I'd be on their side but as it is, they are pushing liberal bs just about every issue. Airbrushing ALBores penis was the final straw years ago.

I image that is simply damages to their national brand. With malice, they will get punitive damages, and those will go much higher.

They were always liberal, but back in the 70s and 80s, with Hunter Thompson, P.J. O’Rourke and Tom Wolfe writing for them, and the best music and movie coverage anywhere, they were the best magazine going. It’s a very sad decline to have witnessed.
