I have severe shoulder pain, especially when using either A. an overhand throwing motion or, B. reaching behind my back. I've been to an orthopedic doctor. He did x-rays and said that I did have arthritis. He further examined me and said that I didn't have a torn rotator cuff, tendonitis, or bursitis. He gave me a cortisone shot into one of my shoulder joints that hurt like hell, but did help. I then went to a chiropractor and he suggested that I may have a pinched nerve in my neck. I've been going to therapy with him 3 times a week for 3 weeks now, with no relief whatsoever. OTC pain meds don't help in the slightest, and anything stronger causes me to projectile vomit. I've had this pain since June. I didn't have any kind of injury. I'm 40 years old. Please help.
Go to a better chiropractor.
Neurologist
Did the doctor give you an MRI?
Go see a doctor.
Arthritis is something that requires more explanation than most doctors give. Most doctors assume you don’t care about the nuances.
There are several types of arthritis conditions and triggers - as well as where the affected area is that decides a lot.
Arthritis in just one shoulder doesn’t make sense. I have it simply everywhere. My left hip bothers me more because I have an irregular skeleton (HME) that inflames tissue as I move.
Sounds like adhesive capsulitis.
Can you get a referral to a neurologist? Nerve pain may be the cause and believe it or not they sometimes prescribe an anti-depressant to block the nerve pain to the brain. Good luck.
Are you taking any statins?
thoracic outlet syndrome?...
Oops. Said that I DIDN’T have arthritis.
This stuff WORKS for nerve pain, muscle pain, etc..
no
Avoid the chiropractor, most of them are useless. Find an acupuncture specialist and embrace the miracle of their treatments.
However I would also get a second and third opinion and find a doctor who will do their job and send you for an MRI before shooting you up with hormones that can have questionable side effects.
find a chiropractor that has an Acuscope. im a former baseball player and my daughter is a former D-1 pitcher. saved both of us.
I had a pain in my shoulder turned out to be some blocked arteries in my heart.
I don’t know what your med history is but if you have precursors for heart disease (high BP, high cholesterol, diabetes) I’d get referred to a cardiologist.
Had a triple bypass last June.

Could be tendonitis, esp. If cortizone helped though it could be all arthritis. See if the corner of clavicle is impinging on biceps tendon.
