Interesting that according to my daughter, Dick’s Sporting Goods Store workers were told to report to stores if Cubs were winning at 9:00 p.m. to stock with championship gear. People were lining up.

There are a number of local custom distributors as well as official league...

Chinese won’t find many here who want knockoff crap from China LOL.

Tonight was the first broadcast that I suffered through with Joe Buck. During the previous games, I turned down the volume on the television and listened to a radio. Buck was awful.

Smoltz was much better.

I am grateful for the victory as the Cubs manager seemed determined to prove that he was a master mind and all of his pitching changes and strategies seemed to backfire.

The Indians did a terrific job with an injured team that was missing some of its pitchers.

What a game. Normally I hope the Cubs lose, but glad to see the curse of the goat has been broken. Well done, Chicago. Your time will come, Cleveland, well played.

Obama claims to be a White Sox fan. You know, the team that plays over in “Cominskey Field”.

I hope they don’t bring any more goats to Wrigley Field. Keep them away, you hear that Billy Goat Tavern? One goat curse that lasted 108 years is one goat curse too many. Nice job Cubbies. It’s about time.

My Dad, who was an excellent baseball player, a pitcher by trade, actually tried out with the Cubs years ago. He played on Depression era teams and was the star pitcher for the 1st Nat’l Bank of Chicago. At that time, corporations sponsored their own teams that would play in leagues against each other. My whole family are Cubs fans.

“Harry Carry looking down...”
.
.
.
Sad that no one remembers Brickhouse. He was THE Cubs man when Carray was at the White Sox badmouthing the Cubs every chance he got.

To this day, I never liked Harry. It was a Jack Brickhouse “Old Style” (official beer) friendly confines. Harry and “Bud” (which was the White Sox beer he brought with him) are just a footnote to me. But I guess I’m old, and after all them years of the Cubs having Banks and stuff and still losing, and Brickhouse being the announcer through all that (Kingman, Dejesus, Buckner, etc) when I hear about how “Harry would be proud” it irks me when they don’t mention the original “Cubs Man” Jack.

I am someone who grew up a Montreal Expo fan but switched to the Cubs after the Expos moved to DC. Very happy to wake up to this news.

HRC is happy to see the Cubs win the Super Bowl. She said so herself.

The five all time longest championship droughts now (in the big four) are now:
1947-Chicago/St Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals-NFL-went from 1947 to 2008 without being in an NFL Final or Super Bowl
1948-Cleveland Indians-MLB-in 1954, 1995, 1997, and 2016 World Series
1951-Rochester/Cincinnati Royals/Omaha/Kansas City/Sacramento Kings-NBA-also first and only NBA finals series appearance
1957-Detroit Lions-NFL-last NFL final appearance, have never been to a Super Bowl
1958-St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks-NBA-last appearance in NBA Final Series was 1961.

Note: Longest drought in NHL is the Toronto Maple Leafs-last Stanley Cup championship and Finals Series appearance was against the Montreal Canadiens in 1967 (last Original Six season before modern expansion).

Harry Caray calling Cardinal games was a little before my time but Jack Buck is still my favorite baseball announcer.

The first time Joe Buck was supposed to sit in for his dad (he had been calling the Louisville Cardinals games) I was all set to hate him because he appeared to be using his dad’s name to get ahead.

Then I heard him.

And I knew the kid was going to be in the business for a long time.
