Task & Purpose ^ | October 28, 2016 | James Clark

Depending on what you’re shooting, there’s always a little bit of recoil, sometimes it’s hardly noticeable, like the AR-15 — unless you’re a journalist with the New York Post. On the other hand, a rifle like .950 JDJ, has a kick that leaves a lasting impression and probably a bruise the size of a dinner plate.

Isnt that a 95 caliber? And isn’t a 95 caliber called a 20mm?

The first weapon I ever fired was an M-14 at Fort Knox in ‘69.I was surprised....no,stunned...by the kickback but became accustomed to it.Something tells me that this weapon might be a bit different.

I can tell you why you need a bullet that big, whatever you hit with that round is automatically diced! All you have do is pick up the pieces and cook them.

I noticed a bunch of calibers missing. It’s apparently a pic of someone’s “collection”, not everything that’s available.

"At what point does it become a cannon?"

When you have to fire it with a lanyard.

In WWII, a fair number of guys broke their legs thinking that ‘knee mortar’ was a description of how to operate it. I suppose you could use it to break your collar bone as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_89_grenade_discharger

Sounds like a lot of fun - provided you have a half-mile shooting range and a six-inch-thick armor plate backstop.

I’ve got a .460 Weatherby Magnum in a custom Ruger No 1 Tropical ...... every shot is a lesson in felt recoil. 16 pounds of Felt Recoil is a 30-06 round. 116 pounds of Felt Recoil is a 460 Wthby Mag. I will suggest this .950 JDJ “felt recoil” is TWICE + the 460 Wthby Mag........:o)

I've got a Ruger Tropical #1 in .458 Lott. What an ass kicker, but it does the job on hogs & deer.

I do download it now days, it's just too much at the bench. Five rounds and you feel like status post serious car accident.
