Well, I just found out that my dad is sending me to Boston for a while.

Don't know if I'm going to be there a week or whether longer.

Now, I am open to suggestions for really great Italian restaurants.

I'll be leaving next Monday.

"How's the Italian food in this place, Mike?"

"Not bad."

(These two I screen shot and captioned myself, although, like the other above (post 32), they were the actual lines from the movie)

Anywhere in the North End. If you are driving park at government center garage and walk over. Don’t think you can pick a bad one

Bertucci’s just went bye bye in favor of a wings place.
Regina’s in the N End is the best.

There was a place we went afterwards for desert that
had the worst cannoli I've ever had in my life. Can't
recall the name of that place either.

Take the gun, leave the cannoli

We were just in Boston last week for the first time ever and we had two memorable meals. The Daily Catch North End was incredible for the white clam linguine. The absolute best, though, was Neptune Oyster. That was one of the best meals of our lives! Both restaurants only seat about 20 so get there early or you will wait.

The Causeway in Gloucester. A little out of your way.
Beef tripe, broiled octopus, stuffed flounder. The shrimp & haddock chowder was great; swordfish tips good.

Victor’s Italian Cuisine. Sit at the bar and watch them cook. Mussels Marinara and Shrimp fra Diavolo. Tiramisu for dessert. They brought extra bread so I could sop up the sauces. All great - even though they don’t make their own tiramisu. I wish I lived next door.

I can probably look up the addresses. As of April 2015. I was in Boston picking up a plastic Chevy.

What did Italians eat before they got noodles from the Chinese and the tomato from the Indians? . . . Good grief. I think the Italians "SLIGHTLY" improved on those both of those things since then. I mean, just a weeee bit.

Lol! I agree with them. I can’t stand the new culture today, with all of the “yuppie” and “hipster” places. Even New York City’s “Little Italy” section is overrun by these schmucks In fact, damn near every Italian neighborhood in NYC has vanished.

Go into the North End, my favorite in there is Artu on 6 Prince Street.

Affordable, great food, and handsome ambiance.

Sonny: Hey, whaddya gonna do, nice college boy, eh? Didn’t want to get mixed up in the Family business, huh? Now you wanna gun down a police captain. Why? Because he slapped ya in the face a little bit? Hah? What do you think this is the Army, where you shoot ‘em a mile away? You’ve gotta get up close like this and - bada-BING! - you blow their brains all over your nice Ivy League suit. C’mere...[kisses Michael’s head]

Michael: Sonny...

Sonny: You’re taking this very personal. Tom, this is business and this man is taking it very, very personal.

If you like Italian seafood, The Daily Catch in the North End is really great.

It is really small (small in a really charming way) inside, my memory tells me it only seats about 15-20 people, no reservations, and there is always a line. But if you can get in, it is a lot of fun.

The guy with the apron cooks right in the room about 10 feet (or less) from where you sit with big flames going up and seafood and pasta in the pans.

If you enjoy Italian seafood dishes, THAT is the place. A memorable experience.

See post #46, gptorhead knows what I mean about The Daily Catch.

You gotta go into the North End. Don’t let people tell you otherwise. It is well worth it. It is real Italian food, not what you would get at many restaurants in Massachusetts outside the North End.
