A new dress code at Boston Latin School has sparked outrage by students.
More than 500 students have signed an online petition protesting the school’s new dress code, which bans several things such as spaghetti straps and “gang-related clothing or colors.”
Students say the policy discriminates against female students and minorities.

That’s why we need school uniforms.
Boston Latin is a prestigious public school and many parents want their children to attend it.
Policy should be: violate the dress code twice and you are OUT. Another child will happily take your place, and you can attend the school for stupid losers down the street.
And yes,you can have the girls being given an option of slacks or skirts.
Also....IIRC Japan also has uniforms for schoolkids.
Yep, that’s one case where I’d be willing to have taxpayers pay for uniforms. Heck with the amount I pay in property taxes, they should be able to afford it.

Women and minorities have it might good in America in terms of jobs, political power, and benefiting from that most irrational ideology known as political correctness.
“Women and minorities” is the standard line the left uses when trying to strong-arm the public into accepting or rejecting policy that cannot stand on its own merits.

Part of growing up is learning not everything is about you and you get discriminated against everyday of your life, in some manner.
Throw out the whining nitwits in the present student body and replace them with the next ones in line.
The minority kids in that school should be grateful for the affirmative action that got most of them admitted and bussed from their front door to school.

Yes, Japan has uniforms—almost sickeningly sweet for the kindergarteners and first-grade kids, more early 20th century military style for high school boys and sailor-inspired outfits for the girls. Slight differences so each school’s is different, but they all look pretty much the same.
Uniforms are worn in Costa Rica and Mexico as well. Many parents there are poor but manage to manage.

Most countries have school uniforms the moment they can (barely) afford them. Its surprising how low on the income level this kicks in. Even in Africa.
