District of Columbia leaders have come up with a new name for the city in the unlikely event that it becomes a state: State of Washington, D.C.

State of Washington, DC and the State of Washington. What could possibly go wrong? And who would ever mix those two places up?

Upon departing DC, someone once claimed it to small to be a state and to large to be considered an insane asylum.

My high school chummm...ps and I drove from the Maryland suburbs on Indianhead highway into DC to buy beer and wine.
Maybe they could turn DC into a giant liquor store.
Guns, liquor and fireworks—like a Missouri convenience store off I-44, but giant.
Make the critters telecommute and put a secure server in the geographical center of the country: Lebanon Kansas.
The richest counties in America can then go directly to hell.

No, the perfect place for a new nation’s capital would be the bootheel of Missouri. It’s right in the middle of America and on the New Madrid Fault, so if it erupts, the capital will get swallowed up.
