DMV records, plus a cavalier approach to mugshot databases, puts half of the US in the system
Half of all American adults are already in some sort of facial recognition network accessible to law enforcement, according to a comprehensive new study.
Conducted over a year and relying in part on Freedom of Information and public record requests to 106 law enforcement agencies, the study, conducted by Georgetown Law’s Center on Privacy and Technology, found American police use of facial recognition technology is a scattered, hodgepodge network of laws and regulations.

Maybe they can tie this into the voting system. That way, if the computer recognizes you as a double-voter you can just immediately be processed as a felon.

When I renewed my Texas drivers license last year, I had to remove my glasses for my photo. When I asked why I was told it was for photo recognition, so I guess I’m in the system.
I wonder what % of people are in a DNA system. If you have enough, it would be easy to track down criminals who are related to someone in the system. Or of course, it could be used possibly in some more nefarious way.

Google enables a search on any photo that is online or that you have taken.
About a year ago, my non techie wife was upset that all her pictures on her Android smartphone had disappeared.
A few minutes later, I discovered that Google had sorted the photos by relatives, friends, places visited and misc.,. Each solo grandkid, adult children photos were sorted by person.
The relatives individual photo sorting was interesting as my wife never labels any photo. So the auto sorting was done by facial recognition.
One can only imagine how powerful any law enforcement, local, state or federal facial recognition search capability is or can be.

My understanding is that the FED is getting DNA data from genealogical heritage sites which do DNA testing .
Chances are that your data , or your relatives data , is already on file:
(Ancestry.com; AncestoryDNA.com; 23 and me; FamilyTree.com; etc)

Now cross tabulate that with all the meta data from Cablevision, cellphone, insurance companies,
banks , medical data, and now you know the complexity of maintaining privacy !
Google photo search has that capability now.
We will never see it used to prevent illegal and dead rats from voting.
I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it seems to have some fourth amendment implications. On the other, it could have some benefits if it were used for something like voter identification.
It definitely has 4th Amendment implications,
and it demonstrates that legality definitely lags behind technology.

A few years ago a few of us related types were considering doing the genealogy dna search on each senior adult member in the various family history trees.
Interestingly, two retired medical people relatives in different states with different family trees, urged us not to do it. Not so much for us old goats but to protect our younger generations from some rich Opecker Prince or South American dictator, wanting a body part with a certain blood and genome types. So we didn’t do it. They, also, said not to use the so called health screening DNA test profile for the same reason.
A year or so later, I discussed this with a retired FP. He is one of those crusty types, who doesn’t trust Republicans, Rats, Libertarians, Greenies or any organized political party. He laughed and said that anytime you have an operation or physical and have blood tests run, you are in a DNA database somewhere and probably several here and around the world. He said DNA samples probably bring in more illegal money than aborted baby parts. He was/is probably correct with his advise.
