I don't know what to think of this... its good that they are not just throwin em out I guess. The 2 Sea lions come to mind that they nursed back to health after the Valdese oil spill The ones the Orca got 10 minutes after they were released in front of the whole town...
But the idea of no Zoos at all conflicts me...

If they have some big cats...some tourists will go missing shortly.
Gotta eat, ya know.

Not a big fan of zoos.
I’d like to see a human zoo though, with part time exhibits.

No problem with this if they plan to open large sanctuary’s were the animals can free range WITHOUT gobbling each other up. While that is life on the Serengeti, most of these animals were probably born in captivity and didn’t learn the life of hard knocks from their mothers in a natural setting. Call me a softy if you must.

Its simply a sign of the times. Zoos are a product of the 19th century - allow the common man to view exotic animals they could never hope to see live or dead.
Now people travel everywhere and can watch on-demand videos of anything. An animal in a cage is viewed as simply BORING, or for the SJW’s among us, that is transmuted into a form of cruelty
I believe museums will die off also. Why are they needed when the masses have 1000 ways to see new things and entertain themselves on the internet and elsewhere?

Glad if they are not just setting the animals “free” since many have been captive so long they would likely be quickly overtaken by predators!
If anything they should stop animal breeding in zoos and stop taking new animals and combine zoos as animals in captivity dwindle due to age and such, closing the unneeded zoo facilities.

So the animals can eat each other?
My wife’s grandfather had prized minks for pelt. The liberals let them go after he died. The minks did not know how to survive and most were run over within weeks. one are known to have survived the first winter.

They need to contact the NC Zoo. It is YUGE and mostly cage free. They have the Lions in very large areas and boast their own Savannah for the Elephants, Rinos and Gazelles.

free the captive animalsI hope they don't have any lions or tigers. Elephants could be a bit iffy, as well.

Put go pros on the large animals and predators and turn ‘em loose in the streets. That’d be a reality show I would watch!

This will have so many catastrophic unintended consequences you won't be able to count them all.
Legal hunting is what provided the revenue to pay for wildlife conservation efforts. End the legal hunting and the poachers have free reign.
