Is anybody watching the new show Designated Survivor? I thought the first show, where nearly everyone in the Fed Government was blown up at the State of the Union address, was pretty much even-handed. Now I am having second thoughts.
I watched about 10 minutes of the first episode of that and thought ‘why am I watching this ridiculous show?’. No innovation, no new ideas in the entertainment industry anymore. And yes, they lose 50% of the viewers when they go against one side or ‘the other’ (but it’s ALWAYS our side they are slamming).
Oh,they want you watching. They just want to influence you with their propaganda.
Might as well get used to the fact that there will be fewer and fewer escapes from politics on TV anymore. That’s what happens as countries transition to communist hellholes. The message has to be reinforced as much as possible to keep minds from thinking about how much their lives suck.
Nope...I’m done with network (liberal) television. I don;t want their subtle jabs, their leftist group think pushed on me.
Designated survivor is exactly that.
If the SOTU address is attacked and everyone killed...it presumes that we actually want this government to continue. I for one, don’t want it to continue. I am sick and tired of it and everyone who occupies positions of power in all of the institution to the bureaucrats who run it.
But, the second week disappointed us with the introduction of the nasty overly ambitious "republican" female congressman and the quick slide into Hollywood politics making the General a blood thirsty hawk.
This week continued to slide into soap opera land. We'll give it one more shot, but it doesn't look promising.
I love Blue Bloods, but I never saw that episode.
If it doesn’t get decisive and stop with the panty waist crap, I’ll dump it like a bad burrito.
I bet it will turn out to be a bunch of white male 2nd Amendment supporters who killed off the government. Or Donald Trump did it.
Or have they already identified the attackers?
Regardless, I won’t be wasting time with this junk.
Watching the second episode I was thinking geeze keifer must not be getting many offers. The show is senseless. Has the new president more interested in stepping away to emote to his wife than handling the new job
None of the characters are interesting or believable
But then they throw in this display of their erroneous thinking that republicans are racist xenophobes even ones who manage to get into a governors position in a major state
The worst is that of all the time kiefer spends dealing with the entire governing leaders having been killed at once, the most time, the dilemma, conflict, problem solving, the phone call to family, was spent in the Muslim kid and it was done because he was Muslim
The show is as idiotic as any sit com aimed at a middle school audience
I am in league with everyone else. I see it sliding to the left. About one more episode and I'm done.
Here's what really bugged me: When the Michigan governor decided to act on his own, he had every right to do so under the Constitution. To wit, Article IV, Section 4
...The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.
(Clearly in the scenario of this show, the Legislature CANNOT be convened.)
The solution for those Muslims "Americans" who are being abused is to either fight back, or get out of Michigan to a more friendly state or country.
Fact is: if such a scenario were to accord as in the theme of this show (No federal congress or courts), power would by default go back to the states - provided the state(s) even DECIDED to send new representatives to an agreed place to meet.
This is good discussion to have in light of the Syrian issue possibly going nuclear (what - you think I simply read about push polls and the Trump trashing distraction daily?).
IIRC, 24 had an episode where all the muslims had been rounded up.
I don't like how they're portraying the military right now...especially the general.
I think if this scenario did unfold and the Sec HUD was prez, then the military, and pretty much everyone else, would wonder why was this idiot the DS.
Gonna give it one or two more episodes.
They’re likely to poison this show just like they did “24”.
I’ll pass.
Still...considering the rest of the crap that passes for prime-time TV...
The FBI tentatively identified the attackers as some sort of Muslim faction(read made up name that sounded like Muslim) but the small FBI lady is upset. They identified a part in an unexploded bomb as a signature of this group, but her theory is that it is a diversion, as the bomb didn’t explode and the people who really did this want to just throw suspicion onto that Muslim group. Yep, you’re probably right.....it is going to turn out to be a rebel Conservative group......I won’t stick around to watch them destroy the half of the audience who is patriotic and loves this country.
Yes, I think that the Bundy Bunch was behind it.
This is why, by and large, I much prefer BBC dramas to American television. My wife eats up shows like Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder, etc. and I cannot take more than a minute or two. They’re just ridiculous. She says they’re just escapist fantasy for her but I have to have a bit more realism in a drama show.
The only American shows I watch are Gotham (Not supposed to be reality), The Last Ship (also not a straight drama), and Blue Bloods. I have also been watching Aquarius but the inaccurate history and obvious leftist slant are wearing thin. I also like Turn, but it’s not on right now.
Agree. When Sutherland ordered the Michigan Governor to stand down, I shouted ‘he can’t do that! The Constitution says any powers not in the purview of the Federal Government will be under the control of the States’. Sutherland basically threatened to send in Fed police, which he cannot do if the Governor doesn’t ask. (re: Louisiana, during Katrina). My husband, who is originally from another country, wanted to know why Sutherland couldn’t overrule the Governor. People who grew up in other countries have no idea of the freedoms FROM the Federal Government, that the States are SUPPOSED to have.
He had another series in which his son was autistic and in that his acting style was the same. He was always desperate and he always talked like he was out of breath........
I get the same reaction with this new character........
Recorded it, haven’t watched yet.
