You might want to sit down for this. On second thought, keep standing. A study published last month in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine found that sitting for more than three hours per day is responsible for 3.8%or approximately 433,000of all deaths worldwide every year.
At this point, it's old news that sitting for long periods of time is bad for your health. But who knew it could be this deadly? According to a press release, researchers looked at data collected from 54 countries between 2002 and 2011.
They found that more than 60% of the world's population sits for more than three hours per day, with the average being approximately 4.7 hours. The highest amount of sitting-related deaths were in the Western Pacific and parts of Europe, AFP reports.

433,000 more dead votes for illary.
I’m a dead man!
That’s it. Hillary needs to stand more.
We need regulations to ban chairs. Or increase Obamacare premiums for those who use chairs.
So let’s see, I’ll live an extra .2 years, i.e., about 2-3 months if I stand most of the time? I’m not impressed.
The libtard population decimators celebrate and encourage more people to die.
I work from home, software stuff. Sit all day. I realized I was gaining weight and not able to do much. Last Black Friday I bought a cheap treadmill, lost ~30lbs so far. I feel so much better, I try and do at least 1-2 miles a day, sometimes more. It takes 1/2 hr while watching TV.
I took care of this problem. I leave my cigarettes in the house and only smoke outside. Frequent trips for my health.
I would love to see some one ad up all the people that have died each week because of some perceived wrong by the left. it seems that the left love to throw inflated figures of deaths caused by a position taken by the right.
Another garbage “study” IMHO-—I’ve been ignoring ALL of them for YEARS.
.
I am a dead woman sitting.
Does lying down flat on the couch count?
Wouldn’t nearly anyone who works in an office sit for more than three hours a day?
Yep, and breathing oxygen is even more lethal. 100% of people who have died breathed oxygen not long before dying. Eating is also lethal. Eating has been noted in almost all people at some point before they died.
:-)
I stood up to read this thread.
Now I’m done...sitting back down...
How many people worldwide die while jogging???
I would love to see an aggregated “lives saved” stat for all federal health and safety regulatons. I would not be surprised if the total exceeded annual mortalities, thus proving that we have achieved immortality. The regulators insist that we accept modeling outputs over real world data in other areas, especially threat assessment. There is no reason the principle shouldn’t apply here.
Funny about the eating.
The old man tells the waitress waiting on us he wants four eggs, fried hard. She says “Sugar, that will kill you.”
Pop says “Sugar, starvation will kill you faster, get my eggs.”
