I wanted to share this with you all this morning. Someone posted the Jimmy Fallon clips of Donald Trump, and while watching I noticed this clip on the side bar of Jimmy Fallon and Carol Burnett.
And it reminded me how really really great Carol was, ( and still is). I think of the thousands of sketches that she and Tim Conway and Harvey Corman did that were so very very funny.
But Carol is not the only one. America has ALWAYS had great funny ladies, THEN and NOW. Who is your favorite?
By the way, does anyone have a link of when Donald Trump comes on Jimmy Fallon's show. I wanted to see what kind of response he got.
Also, there are pages and pages of google video, images and text on the Trump Fallon thing, but there is hardly anything on the Clinton segment on Friday with him. There's the bit with the surgical mask, but nothing else. Anyone see it? The Tonight Show always was a great gauge of who would win the election. Remember Johnny Carson's Applaud Meter?
Lily Tomlin and Betty White.
I can’t think of a modern comedienne. Today they are dominated by rabid Marxists who just make crude genital jokes and bash republicans.
“Flip Wilson”
His Geraldine was a hoot, but we are talking real women here.
Martin Lawrence doing ShaNayNay was pretty funny too.
But both mocked black ghetto women; not PC these days.
My favorite Gracie Allen story is when George Burns admitted that he had cheated on her only one time, and he felt so guilty about it he bought her a beautiful, very expensive diamond necklace.
She thanked him and wore the necklace often, and for years she never let on whether or not she knew, until a magazine reporter asked her point blank if he’d ever been unfaithful.
Her response: “Yes, but he only did it once. I was kind of hoping he’d do it again, so I could get the matching earrings.”
Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball
Good choice! I also like Myrna Loy.
We all had more patience back then and the jokes were more about the telling than the punch line.
Favorite funny lady: Madeline Kahn. Nobody funnier.
Favorite Carol Burnett sketch: Norma Desmond and Max her faithful butler!
