in a long & painful death by ACCIDENT, it is a sadness that
any normal person feels deeply. - Husband set a cage trap
in the garden to catch a raccoon that was getting into stuff
there. A raccoon wandered into the trap & Fang didn’t get
back out there for a couple of days, HOT days & he had a
medical emergency during that time. - The raccoon died a
horrible death & Fang no longer sets traps of any kind.
He still shoots the squirrels in his pear trees with a
shotgun; but it is a quick merciful death for them. - I
am depressed about things being sometimes crappy in this

My understanding is it’s an act of thanking their moon God for their sustenance and the personal sacrifice of sharing one’s possessions and valuable food with one’s fellow humans. The idea is to feed the poor with the butchered meat from these animals.
