The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are deeply unusual devices. They are full of aggressive breaks from convention while wrapped in cases that look almost exactly like their two direct predecessors. Even that continuity of design is a break from convention; after almost a decade of Apples steady two-year iPhone update pattern, merely retaining the same design for a third straight year plays against expectations.
Inside that case, everything else about the iPhone 7 is a decisive statement about the future. The dual cameras on the iPhone 7 Plus promise to usher in a new era in mobile photography. The iconic iPhone home button is no longer a physical button, but instead a sophisticated ballet of pressure sensors and haptic vibration motors that simulate the feel of a button. The new A10 Fusion processor blends two high-power cores that rival laptop performance with two low-power cores that combine with a much larger battery to extend run time by up to two hours.
And, yes, Apple has removed the headphone jack.

I’ll stick with a desktop and a GoPro thanks.

Interesting!
With an iPhone 6 in my pocket, I’m already carrying a phone that’s smarter than I am, so why would I want an iPhone 7 ?
To help fund the 'Rats?
So you can turn your amp to 11.
Get your new Sodomite phone!
does that cost more?
Simple...to be smarter than your kid(s).
I still think Apple should have kept the headphone jack on the iPhone 7. If they had done that, I would have gotten an iPhone 7 to replace my iPhone 6 from 2014. As such, I’m keeping my iPhone 6 until the true radical design model arrives next year.
Are you using a third party headphone? If so, then use the free included Lightning to 3.5mm adaptor. If you use Apple's earbuds, then use the ones free included ones Apple supplies with the iPhone 7 that connect to the Lightning port.
Google is a massive leftist corporation that directly supports the Democrat Party and leftist causes...
Google (the developer of Android - and a known harvester of your private information which it sells) is hugely pro-homosexual.
Your argument is invalid.
No thank you. Having to use a dongle (which you can easily lose!) is such a bad idea. I’d rather they kept the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Keep it plugged onto the end of your earphone cord. Problem solved.
The picture of the phone, adapter and headphone cable is a bit misleading. If someone MUST use wired headphones, that adapter never has to come off of them. So you plug the headphones into the lightning cable...so what?
I have not used wired headphones with my phone for some time. Those that do, are stubbornly holding on to the past. A set of over the ear noise cancelling headphones gets battery life of up to 20 hours. In ear blue tooth headphones up to 12. My phone can stay in my backpack or pocket while I control it with my watch.
The fuss over this is really just whining for the sake of whining.
