PARIS (September 12, 2016) — France's latest efforts to reduce pollution will also affect nature lovers hitting the countryside for an outdoor meal: Under a controversial new ban, picnickers won't be able to buy plastic goblets to drink their beloved wine, or plastic knives to make ham and butter baguette sandwiches.

Life in the office will be different, too, as coffee machines will no longer cough out plastic cups, as part of the country's plans to be more environmentally friendly.

Good grief.................their country is inches away from the caliphate and they ban plastic dishes.

Will Sharia even let the masses have dishes? /s

Is France so backward that they don’t have recycle containers? Even here in BFE, we recycle plastic, drink cans, paper/cardboard-even glass...

If an Islamist chops off a Christian’s head in France they better put their head in a paper bag, because if they use plastic they will have to pay a fine and get a sternly worded letter.

If you want to clean up France install some public toilets so people don’t pee on the sidewalk

They have recycle bins near my, but I generally refuse to use them.

Curbside recycling is a liberal joke that costs money and provide zero discernable benefit

The problem with France is French politicians. Parisians are so uptight about the French language that if you’re accent is too far off when speaking French they say they don’t understand plus other things. The French in outlaying villages are cool, polite and helpful.

It's good that France has fixed all of their problems, so that they can worry about whether or not their disposable forks are bio-degradable. /s

And Liberals want to be more like these clowns?

Article indicates that plastic is to be replace with biological material that can be composted.
The new measure, which took effect last month, gives producers until 2020 to ensure that all disposable dishes sold in France are made of biologically sourced materials and can be composted.

Based on this limited info, I agree with this experiment.

This is a rural area, so we do not have public-funded services like trash, sewage or water-even our electricity provider is a co-op-and there are no curbs...

All trash services are private, recycling is optional and does not cost extra-you chose the service you want and pay, or you take your stuff to the county dump and recycling station-either is cheaper than in a city. You provide your own recycle containers and label them-no tax money pays for it-you are responsible for your own. I use bags and paper labels, because they are cheap-I learned to recycle as a kid living on the family ranch-it was known as don’t waste anything that can be used some other way then-early recycling out of common sense, not a liberal scam funded by taxpayers...

If I lived in a city, I wouldn’t bother with the bins either-my tax dollars NOT at work...

Recycling stuff to re-use it yourself makes sense or if you can get rid of it for free. We do put out a bin but only because it is free pickup and we get charged per bag for trash.

The net processing cost for recyclables outweighs the cost to landfill it and for most of the items, there’s little legitimate use for.

Personally I favor incinerators that burn trash and create energy. That heat can be harnessed and used to power turbine generators to make electricity. At worst it’s a wash.

Paper, plastic and glass can be reincarnated as a new item of the same composition-lots of small to medium companies do this-some are the same ones that recycle wooden pallets-but if you mandate recycling on some mega-scale and make a govt entity responsible, it is definitely going to lose efficiency and effectiveness of cost by being weighed down by lazy overpaid municipal employees and regulations-just like everything else govt touches...

The incinerator idea sounds great-it is warm here much of the year-our winters are short-but it probably work better where winter is long and cold and more energy is needed for heat.

There WAS no plastic when I grew up.

We used glass, paper, and sometimes metal for beach and picnics.

No big deal.
