Under the radar, near a campfire, a counter-cultural force is rising.

Only three years old, Trail Life USA, the Christian answer to the politically correct Boy Scouts of America, is operating 700 troops in 48 states, with nearly 30,000 troop members. It’s still small compared to the BSA, which began in 1910 and claims more than two million members. But Trail Life could be on the verge of far more growth as the culture descends into madness and parents seek a haven for their impressionable sons.

Baden-Powell Scouting focuses on the importance of tradition in the Scout Movement. Japan, Argentina, Malaysia, Malta, Germany, Denmark, Ghana, Canada[1] and the United States have traditional organisations that are affiliated to the Baden-Powell Scouts’ Association (B-PSA).

The Baden-Powell Scouts’ Association shares the heritage of the youth Scouting Movement, however they believe in a traditional way of Scouting which closely follows the program set out by Lt. General Robert Baden-Powell in his book: Scouting for Boys.

The Baden-Powell Scouts’ Association was formed in the United Kingdom in 1970 by the Reverend William Dowling when it was felt that The Scout Association was abandoning the traditions and intentions set out by Baden-Powell in 1908. When I was a kid, I was in Christian Service Brigade, a faith based alternative to Boy Scouts. I haven’t heard anything about CSB for years, but a quick Google search indicates they’re still around.

The BSA is on life support now. They finally will pull the plug when they finally get so much political pressure that they decide to revoke the right of local councils to exclude LGBT from adult leadership positions.

It is a good thing to have these alternatives in place for when, not if, this finally happens.
