Every now and then, in the middle of the constant barrage of crap thats just pissing us all off these days, we come across a story, a feat, an event that just makes us stop in our tracks. This was one for me.
Cody Green was a 12-year kid in Indiana who was diagnosed with leukemia at 22 months old. He loved the Marines, and his parents said he drew strength and courage from the Marine Corps as ... he bravely fought the battle into remission three times. Although he was cancer-free at the time, the chemotherapy had lowered his immune system and he developed a fungus infection that attacked his brain. Two weeks ago, as he struggled to fend off that infection in the hospital, the Marines wanted to show how much they respected his will to live, his strength, honor and courage. They presented Cody with Marine navigator wings and named him an honorary member of the United States Marine Corps.
For one Marine, that wasn't enough ... so that night, before Cody Green passed away, he took it upon himself to stand guard at Cody's hospital door all night long, 8 hours straight.
Nowhere on the face of this planet is there a country so blessed as we to have men and women such as this.
Semper Fi, and God bless.
Semper fi, Troop.
It’s reassuring to know there are still a few who take the concept of honor seriously.
During the Olympics, there was a US javelin tosser who stopped in the middle of a sprint, dropped his javelin and turned to salute the flag during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner for a medal ceremony. This Olympian was a member of the US armed forces.
Social media was abound with criticism for this practice, belittling it as “blind devotion” and equating it to fascism. Then I read stories like this and see that Marine standing at attention, paying respects to a child, and I remember why we have the best military and the best country on this planet. It’s not about blind devotion, it’s about a passionate embrace of everything for which American stands.
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes,
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.
I’m in constant amazement at the quality of people this nation can produce. God bless Sgt.Dolfin, now the angels stand guard over Cody Green.
Amen to that!

This is so touching.
The child was special, and the Marines are special.
What else is there to say.
For sure, this article needs a hanky alert.
My iPad screen blurred too. Awesome story about your Aunt. Honor does lift the spirit!

Blurry screen Bump!
God bless this child, his family and the Marines guarding over him!
Thank you, Marines.
Very touching. The Marine gave both young Cody Green and his family a wonderful gift with his vigil.
My gratitude and respect to the Marines for all they did for this boy.
Semper Fi Devil Pup, may you rest in peace.
