Best-selling author James Patterson thinks that, unlike Cuba, America is unable to take care of the basics education, health care, and food.
Patterson wrote and hosts a new documentary, Murder of a Small Town, that looks at two rural communities in Florida, Pahokee and Belle Glade. The towns have been abandoned by industry, are violent, poverty-stricken and offer a contrast to Palm Springs and other affluent coastal communities to the east.

Sometimes I really feel for those poor starving morbidly obese people that are totally without resources
Sloppy, indeed.
AND, he obviously underestimates the intelligence of people who might read his books.
That’s a deal-breaker fo me, personally.
Why does this crap of an article even get posted on freerepublic?
Get on a boat, then, dickhead.
Sounds just like prison.
Preferably made of rubber. Patched with bicycle tire repair patches too.
He employs others to do the writing. He provides a detailed outline with inflection points called “beats”.
He controls his marketing and distribution.
His writing is so fast-paced, each chapter is maybe 350 words or so, large type, wide margins. You can read one of his books in nibbles in the bathroom or between other more important chores in your life.
He owns his audience. He doesn’t make the mistake of expecting them to be sophisticated readers. They register noun-verb-subject and on to the next sentence.
He’s a fiction factory, immensely wealthy and puts out product like it’s pre-packaged fast-food. Writers who want riches study him. His formula works. Ask Tom Clancy...oh, sorry, he’s gone, but I believe several of his smaller production facilities are still in existence.
The above tells you all you need to know about the mass-market paperback audience.
Hey Jimmie Boy why not buy a nice house down there and enjoy all the great benefits of living the people’s paradise?
Communist states have no private property, officially. He can’t “buy” anything in the sense that we know.
Several thousand of his over-priced books to pass out to the comrades too.
Use them for mulch, if nothing else.
I’ve never read any of his books. These guys that put out so many books that they appear to defecate them have never appealed to me. Now that I know what an idiot he is, I have no reason to ever read anything by him. I will consider him the literary equivalent of Michael Moore.
If it’s so wonderful there why were the Cuban’s always crying about the US embargo?
If this moron had been in Cuba when Castro took over, all of his wealth would have been confiscated to make sure that the entire population of Cuba would be the beneficiary of his former estate.
In today’s Cuba the only people with Patterson’s level of wealth have a name that ends in Castro.
Oh for hevvin’s sake.
EBT cards, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, subsidized housing, FREE housing, churches, secular charities, panhandling on any public street, + multitudes of government programs and tax supported nonprofits.
Not to mention private property=anyone can grow their own food, own a cow and some chickens.
Try that in Cuba, see what happens.
Our poorest are wealthy compared to 99% of the people south of our border, and our criminals are pampered.
Know yourself, know your enemy, one hundred battles, one hundred victories.

He names all of his books in the “Alex Cross” series after verses in nursery rhymes, e.g. “Along Came A Spider”, “Kiss The Girls”, “Roses Are Red” ad nauseam. There were film adaptations of the former two books mentioned, starring Morgan Freeman as Cross; both got negative reviews.
So do the Pigs in the Slaughter House Holding Pens.
And given the chance, 90% of them would run to America at the first opportunity. What does that say about your healthcare, food, and education?
PS: Patterson’s claim that the towns have been “abandoned by industry” is specious. More likely the industries have been taxed, regulated, and bled dry by union bosses.

Because we have to see what’s going on outside of the Free Republic Bubble.
Unless you know how your enemy thinks, you cannot defeat them.
