How generous of Gibson - a Catholic - to make a movie about a Seventh Day Adventist when SDA is viciously anti-Catholic. Gibson looked past their hatred and bigotry to see a decent man. I wish they could return the favor more often.

Let’s face it.

It’s because it’s a film about a Soldier who wouldn’t carry a rifle.

That’s the story Hollywood wants these days.

There are a million stories about Soldiers who had rifles carrying their buddies out of the fire.

Hollywood doesn’t want those.

Too politically incorrect.

Question for you WWII historians: Was there actually a place called Hacksaw Ridge? I don’t recall ever hearing the name even when I was briefly based on Okinawa.

A significant percentage of MOH recipients are medics/corpsmen. Hazardous military occupational specialty in combat. Today’s warfighters receive training and carry high tech emergency medical supplies with which they can treat their battle buddies’ wounds or their own, if able.

I met a National Guard medivac helicopter pilot two weeks ago that said he didn’t have what it took to be an attack helicopter pilot but had a passion to get the wounded to the hospital. I told him I was proud of him.

I have always been torn on consciencious objectors. On one hand you have men like this, and their bravery and devotion to duty is quite impressive. On the other hand, one enemy soldier, that passes in front of the objectors would be rifle sights, can cause 75 casualties.

Mel Gibson has made some of the best dramas about history ever put on film for this popcorn muncher. Some were controversial to be sure, but I can tolerate another persons point of view.

It is an injustice to Doss to turn this thread into a religious discussion. Gibson appears to be above the Catholi - SDA split, so why can’t we? How about we just keep the discussion to the honor of this amazing hero and not pollute this thread with yet another religious discussion. There are plenty of other threats to bash each other over the head trashing each other’s religious beliefs. Plesae go there and keep the pollution out of this thread.

Hollywood is very strong for the Democrat Party.

They don’t do a lot of war pictures.

But here we have a film about a Soldier without a rifle.

Why, it’s almost like they made and released this movie to influence people about a Soldier without a rifle.

To protect the Democrats like Obama.

Hmmmmmm......

Seems familiar.......

Bowe Bergdahl.

He left his rifle behind.

Now you know why Hollywood likes this movie and is releasing it now.

It’s to protect Obama and the Democrats.
