Rio's Olympic Golf Course Overrun with Capybaras and Crocodiles Days Ahead of Summer Games

With many of the world's top golfers having already bowed out of this year's Olympic Games, those intrepid athletes brave enough to make the trip to Rio may be counting on an easier path to victory.

While it's true that the likes of Jason Day, Jordan Speith and Dustin Johnson won't be a threat to the attending golfers' Olympic hopes this year, capybaras, mini crocodiles, monkeys, boa constrictors and other native wildlife will.

The course that will host Olympic golf next Thursday is located in western Rio's Barra da Tijuca, an upscale neighborhood situated between two large lakes and on the edge of the Marapendi nature reserve.

By the pic, that is obviously a male capybara.

It's Michelle Obama.

Oh, the caiman has its uses, and could score quite well with the critters you name. Y’see, the albumen of its eggs, iirc, is an infallibly deadly toxin. Great murder mystery poison, btw. I hadn’t known that they ranged as far South as Brazilian golf courses near Rio.

Why not a transgender capybara that still has its male naughty bits?

Golf as an olympic event is a ridiculous idea.......The same applies to the NBA all stars making their grandiose appearances while renting the luxury suites in that cruise liner...........I have no respect for those bastards.

One would think that with their combined wealth they could have at least reserved rooms for the family members of the low profile athletes who don't profit from athletic endorsements or maybe even provided airfare for those who could not afford to fly to the games to watch their kids in action./......

Why not, it's a golf thread: Any nymphomaniacs found on the course?

Forty years ago some escape from a local wildlife safari. One of our men caught it about five miles away when one of the men I worked with noticed a creature swimming in the local lake. He described what he had seen and I said “Capybara”. Some of the men had never heard of such a thing.

Leave them on the greens, but don’t feed them for a couple of days. That could make golf finally worth watching.

There is a famous vid of Luke Donald being pulled aside by his caddy so a baboon can lope by, so golfers are not exactly unfamiliar with this sort of thing.
