Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus called Donald Trump Tuesday to express frustration with the presidential candidate’s campaign and how he has handled his prolonged feud with the family of a slain Muslim-American soldier, according to several party sources familiar with the conversation.

It’s a sign of the growing angst within the GOP over a candidate who has veered away from his core talking points since the conclusion of last month’s Republican National Convention.

“his prolonged feud with the family of a slain Muslim-American soldier”

It is only prolonged because EVERYONE keeps bringing it up. Everyone and their dogs are going to be asked “should Trump apologize for attacking Khan?”

Apologize for what???

And I’m not even a Trump fan and I see how ridiculous this is. I have a lot of problems with him and am going to vote for him.

“He needs to stop handing the media these juicy tabloid issues to run with for days on end.”

As an early and strong supporter of Trump, I agree. It is not necessary to allow the MSM to walk him down every dark path they choose, and that is the ONLY kind they choose. For example, why would Trump feel it necessary to expound anything at all about sexual harassment on the job, other than to just do what is expected — condemn it an move on to his campaign issues, the ones that will save the nation itself. Views on sexual harassment on the job is not something he will be dealing with as president. In fact, as he himself has pointed out, he should only be preoccupied with things he will handle as president.

Trump has been under fire the entire time he has been running. Nothing has changed. The only way he can lose at this point is to stop being Trump.

Did I miss something in the article where Reince Priebus verified this call to Trump? If not, this is yet another non-story.

True. At this point Trump needs to weather the storm and appear in command. If Trump wasn’t in serious position to win the attacks would not be to this level.

Will know come election day if people have seen through the propoganda arm of the federal government,

Trump has 14 weeks to focus on his message and stick to it. He needs to stop handing the media these juicy tabloid issues to run with for days on end.

You are right, absolutely right. A modern U.S. election is, unfortunately, not on a level playing field. The D candidate can say anything, and get away with it. The R candidate, not so much.

So the R candidate has to be much more careful. Trump should continue to talk tough, but not carelessly. My fear is that Trump will continue to behave as if it's still primary season. And he will suffer a political death by a thousand cuts.

Fear. Fear. Fear. That’s all you have to offer. Please start a hankie-clutching fear group here and leave the rest of us Trump supporters in peace.

FWIW, and you probably know this, but it is routine to undertake contingency planning in case a nominee becomes unavaliable for some reason. The press is reporting this planning as a signal that the planners fear Trump will voluntarily drop out. Pure fabrication.

You’re the one who mentioned fear - you’re afraid. Trump isn’t afraid and he’s smarter than all of us. Man up!
