Gingrich blasts Trump's 'very self-destructive' behavior
Politico ^ | August 3, 2016 | Nick Gass

Posted on 08/03/2016 7:50:54 AM PDT by Pinkbell

Donald Trump's behavior over the last week has been "very self-destructive" to his campaign, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday, comparing the Republican nominee to a Hall of Fame quarterback who is in the midst of an interception-throwing slump.

"Trump is still behaving like as though it was the primaries and there were 17 candidates. He has not made the transition to being the potential president of the United States, which is a much tougher league," Gingrich said in an interview with Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria." "People are going to watch you every single day. They’re going to take everything they can out of context, and he is not yet performing at the level that you need to."

Gingrich remarked that Trump's performance recalled quarterback Joe Montana's "stretch during his career where he kept throwing interceptions; and for about half a season, it looked like he wasn’t Joe Montana anymore."

"And then he figured out what he was doing, and he changed. Trump, Trump is in that kind of a slump," said Gingrich, a Trump supporter who was under final consideration for the vice presidential slot before Indiana Gov. Mike Pence was chosen.

"It’s like watching a team go out on the field, throw an interception on the first play and go back off the field again," Gingrich continued, alluding to a host of recent comments and battles Trump has waged over the course of the last week, including sparring with the family of a fallen U.S. Army captain who spoke out against him at the Democratic convention, refusing to back prominent Republicans like Paul Ryan, John McCain and Kelly Ayotte in their elections, joking about tossing a baby out of his rally on Tuesday and generally responding to any personal attack against him."

The sacrifice comment was in regard to a question asked by George S. Trump answered it on its face, and he wasn’t trying to say anything he did outweighed the sacrifice of their son. However, the media spun it that way. Trump did talk about terrorism a little bit in his comments and in a statement he put out. It just got buried because of the comments about the father being fed lines by Hillary and of the mother being quiet.

I think many like Gingrich are too oriented to how the msm sees things and crafts narratives than how they should be working to deconstruct those narratives. Those average folks out in Trump’s America aren’t with that DNC shill Khan who attacked Trump falsely from the stage supporting Hillary the women who left Americans to die in Benghazi and who wants to coddle the same type of islamic extremists that killed his brave son. It actually looks like this father himself is sympathetic to the islamic extremists. Either way the biggest defeat I see is not Trump though I would’ve responded differently its the Republicans instinctive desire to submit to whatever contrived MSM narrative that is presented even when it comes straight from the the campaign of Hillary Clinton.

Trump is not why we lose. Its the way Republicans fall in line with left wing narratives shooting their own. The best advice is if you aren’t rhetorically shooting at Hillary Clinton put your damn rhetorical gun down. You NEVER see Democrat leadership behaving as spineless as we’ve seen Ryan and McConnell in the face of Republican narratives even when they are unquestionable and factual. Harry Reid and Pelosi gets out there every day works to turn any GOP attack back on us. Our team fucking shoots itself in the foot and expects to get rewarded for it.

I agree with you 100% that the Democrats will always circle their wagons. Our people don’t do the same. They are terrified of negative media coverage and hatred from the Dems and their allies in the media. The problem is that it has to be a group effort to stand up to the media. When the Republicans run to the media to disavow Trump, Trump is left to stand alone and the media portrays him as too “out there” for his own party and therefore unfit to become President. The Republicans do this every single election cycle. It’s just worse this year because a lot of them don’t like Trump. I don’t see how we can change this unless we can literally scrap most of the bunch and start over.

He should have turned the question around and said the only thing Hillary sacrificed is four American lives in Benghazi.

Trump had better get quicker on his feet. Everyone is waiting for the Debates where he will supposedly pounce Hillary. Hillary the Politician will come out looking like the rational Candidate and she will have help from the Debate Moderators to make it happen. Trump will be on his own and he had better figure out how to blunt it. All this crap about the NFL Game schedule conflict being an issue is silly in the age of DVR's. Well, if he can't make this mess about Hillary and the DNC with the leaked DNC Emails and the information on her deleted Emails into an effective Campaign tactic, exactly when is he planning on attacking them?

Flying around the Country making the same stump Speech to People who already support you is not the way to win a General Election Campaign. All it has done so far is given the Media a vast array of Soundbites to harvest against Trump.

It seems to be working for our Enemies and it will show up in Polling very soon unless something changes.

I still say he should apologize to the mother.

To apologize is to admit that what they said was true and what he said was false - neither of which is true. Unless, of course, he was issuing one of those leftist non-apologies apologies. The last thing I would do is cede that ground.

A better strategy is to hit back on the phony manufactured nature of the Khan-con - preferably through surrogates.

My intention is not to get Brilliant banned, but he has heartfelt and longstanding beliefs about our current nominee and has stated multiple times that he will not vote for him. He told me that he believes that he was the worst of all the candidates. There needs to be a little truth in advertising in this case, no matter what Trump says or does, Brilliant can be counted on to put a negative spin on it.

I see the Pee Pants Pink Panties Punks, a group I like to call the P.P.P.P.P., are Johnny on the spot for this thread.

I think we should give them all a fresh pair of Depends and a second set of pink panties that they can wear on their heads.

That’s why I didn’t want Newt for VP; he’s all about himself.
