The de Blasio administration rolled out new set of relaxed disciplinary reforms for schoolchildren on Thursday that even managed to roil a recent ally, the head of the teachers union.
Along with the Department of Education, de Blasio announced a total ban on suspensions for students in kindergarten through second grade claiming the current disciplinary tactics disproportionately affect students of color and those with disabilities.

NOW you have to take whatever the littler kids hand out and you can't do anything about it, eh? Do not assume those primary school kids are harmless. They can throw heavy stuff at you, kick you, threaten you, vandalize or steal your stuff. Just like they learned at home. But according to these new DiDumbDumb rules, you will just have to let them disrupt your class with no consequences whatsoever. Great for the kids who actually want to learn and great for your passing statistics. No wonder the schools have to fake most of these grades now. Teachers are under constant pressure to pass kids, with the Dept. of "Education" constantly throwing obstacles in their way to further impede learning, yet demand higher and higher passing statistics.
Why are there any teachers in the NY public school system?

It’s all in the Marxist handbook. Destroy America from within, then rebuild as an elitist controlled hive mind. Most professed socialist have no idea of the end game and are Lenin’s ‘useful idiots ‘.
You have my sympathy.
>>Why are there any teachers in the NY public school system?<<
There aren’t. The real teachers left years ago.
Unfortunately, children who are in crisis and who are disrupting classrooms are not going to be helped by this plan to ban suspensions in grades K-2 and neither will the thousands of other children who will lose instruction as a result of those disruptions,
City schools aren’t the only ones being converted to cesspools. I live in a relatively small southern town but just about every Southern town has it’s projects. My grandchildren are going to move this year to a school much less convenient because the school they should be able to go to has descended into chaos exactly like you described. It is one of the schools that the project kids attend. From what I’ve heard, the teachers can’t discipline the students or the gang banging thug sperm and egg donors threaten the teachers. No telling what these children are dealing with in their home lives. Then the other bunch of kids there are kids of non English speaking parents. While these kids seem to have intact families, they don’t seem to be disciplined either. While I don’t think their parents threaten the teachers they are disruptive. I don’t think it’s fair to the teachers to have to deal with all these non-English speaking students and parents. It has to be time consuming trying to communicate.
I hear all kinds of horror stories from teachers. I’ve heard some of the teachers that have the brunt of the mess sit in their cars in the school parking lot and cry before going in to try and teach.
Dimocrats and their socialist ideals don’t lift people up they drag everyone down.
When these kids grow up they’ll vote for corrupt government. That’s the plan.
Those problems will spread as that model is exported across the country (mixed schools) via relocation of the Welfarian population. It isn’t just about breaking up conservative voting blocs; here in the northeast there are few taxpayers to fund the Welfarian schools - so they have to attach the parasites to new hosts (who can prove to be moving targets).
You have a couple of different categories of people who want to be teachers. You have the young libtards with stars in their eyes, who are going to "change the world". They've been watching "To Sir With Love", etc. too much. The first thing new teachers have to adjust (after they pick their jaw up off the ground where it fell) is their expectations. They have to lower them more and more each passing week or go nuts. You think, "Well of COURSE everyone knows 2 + 2 = 4." Until you meet the kids. You can tell them 10 different ways (and in NYC having to teach the Commie Core way, making it even more obtuse) that 2 + 2 = 4 and STILL watch the goldfish swim around in their eyes.
Then there are the cynical hipsters who view teaching as a stepping stone for something they consider better--law school, medical school, etc. It looks good on their resume to spend a year or two or three in the classroom. These are your Teach For America instant teachers, just add water. They have no intention of teaching for the long term and so are quite amenable to passing everyone who can fog up a mirror, to make themselves darlings of administration and parents. Never mind the students know nothing, may not even be attending class.
The patriots like myself who love their country and who cannot bring themselves to simply pass along students with fake grades (what use will they be to America?) are endlessly harassed to make them leave.
