Oxford's Reaction Engines Ltd (REL) announced it has received a 10,000 development contract with ESA, so it can work on its revolutionary Synergistic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine (SABRE).
This technology can work both in the Earth's atmosphere and in space - which is crucial to space planes.

Yes but the Concord was a victim of bad marketing, improper maintenance, high fuel costs and the government of France ( who could screw up anything without trying.). No point in being a Ludite on that account.

Gets you anywhere in four hours after a boarding time of several hours and several more after you land ... being optimistic ...
