Customers who have eaten at Wendy's restaurant and used a debit or credit card to pay for their food are being encouraged to check their statements and read more information on a cyber breach found at some franchise-owned restaurants.

Alabama restaurants include five in Huntsville; two in Madison, and one each in Cullman, Decatur, Evergreen, Greenville, Guntersville, Jasper, Mobile, Rainsville, Scottsboro and Selma. Click for locations near you.

Wendy's Company first reported unusual payment card activity in February 2016, and believes the activity may have occurred as early as October 2015. Then, on June 9, 2016, company officials reported that an additional malware variant had been identified and disabled.

All of the impacted locations are located in the United States.

I hope not, I use to do the installs for one of them (I had NOTHING to do with the software and I told them their security was lacking on the hardware side)

But the security hardware is a POS...

their actual Point Of Sale stuff was decent.

I always carry.

I wish they had them too.

But don’t tell them about the big trash cans for setting up the lettuce!

I haven’t worked for Wendy’s since 1982 but the “old” hamburger patties they use for chili are patties that sat on the grill one minute too long, so instead of throwing it out they chop it up and make chili out of it (same day, and sell it within a day or two). Pretty good, actually. It’s not like they age it for a week or two in the fridge.

You're memory is right on, that's exactly how our crew made the Wendy's chili @ our location in Minnesota, circa 1978-79. It was always good and we sold a lot of it. IIRC, it sold in the same type container as nightcrawlers were packaged @ the bait shop, but with way different graphics:)

I have a Wendys near work that is excellent. They center the meat on the bun even during the lunch rush. Lettuce and tomatoes always fresh. They consistently build burgers that look like the ones on the menu. And they are very friendly. The thing is, there’s a Chick-fil-A just across the street. I think the competition has made them better.

I see what you did there, and I agree and approve.

Getting back on topic with the thread, I think I’m gonna have more cash on me from now on, these kinds of stories keep popping up all too often.
Also wish there was a Chick-fil-A near me, I want to try the best chicken sammich.
I don’t recall if Wendy’s had a chicken sandwich back in the 70s but they did have a pretty good deep fried fish filet sandwich.

More and more places prefer to take plastic, unfortunately. Something to do with having to count all the paper out at the end of the day, adding to the time there compared to having a total ready automatically by using the cards.

Plus harder for employees to steal...

Even bacon on tofu tastes questionable. Pray you never find out the truth to that one.

Plus you can hire employees who don’t habla, or need to know how to make change.

Chik-fil-A is a true game changer. They give you max quality every day at every hour with max friendliness and max cleanliness and the whole bit. I was in our local Chik-fil-A the other day and I noticed that they had what appeared to be little vases full of fresh cut flowers on the tables. I thought for sure they must have been artificial, so I left the line and smelled them. Nope, they were real. I thought to myself, this is why Chik-fil-A has lines that wrap around their restaurant from 11am until 1pm every single day. They are exerting themselves in a way that the other places simply do not.

You have no idea how frustrating that can be here in Cali. Plus, now it is appearing in Reno!

I go to place an order for what I have chosen out of the menu at a fast-food place, and the individual manning the cash register has an accent (mexican) so thick you have to take a few moments to sound out what they have uttered before you can understand them and either confirm or deny what they are going to input there and read out the price you are set to be charged.

THEN they announce it into the sound system for the workers in the back to begin to assemble it... and they announce it in spanish so you have no idea what they say unless you speak the language.

All you can do is stand there and carefully hand over the amount the register is showing that you owe, and wonder what the country is coming to.

CASH always talks. Stop being tracked by using your debit card. Pay in cash.

It depends upon the “cash”. A regular FRN everyone is used to seeing, even if it is sometimes a forgery.

However, despite its unquestioned validity, when I attempted to pay a recent veterinary bill with a $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle, the girls behind the counter refused to take it, and said I needed to find a bank somewhere to change it into paper currency.

*sigh*

How far we have fallen.
