Given the rumors that are flying around about 'changing the rules' at the GOP convention so as to prevent Donald Trump from being the Republican nominee, I think some thought should be given to the potential collateral damage to the Republican Party's efforts in November.
First, I'll state the obvious - if Trump is denied his position on the ballot in 2016, I simply will not vote for president - and I suspect that holds for many, probably a majority of Trump supporters.
So Romney, Ryan, or whoever replaces him will simply have to find another pool of millions of voters to push them over the top, and I'll give them a hit - IT DOESN'T EXIST. The only pool of voters they'll find is the 10,000 or so GOP insiders that can't stand Trump crashing their little conclave. The millions of us that took the time and made the effort to go out and vote, we'll simply will NOT VOTE for this new candidate.
Now I assume the above is already obvious to the GOP Leaders, so it's time to add a bit more to the mix. Do not, for a minute, think that us Trump voters have some great love for the GOP. WE DO NOT. We've been asking for a candidate to secure our borders (and that includes terrorist immigration) for over a decade, and all we get are Open Borders types and back-room scheming to try to get Amnesty through - the same Amnesty that is even opposed by a (albeit slim) majority of Democrats. The only people 'extreme' on this issue are the ones (in both parties) that will not let go of this push.
So here's what happens if we do not see Trump on the ticket - you Republican SENATORS, CONGRESSMEN, and CANDIDATES are going down with him. We will not vote for a party that denies its own voters their choice of a candidate...THAT SIMPLE.
So you guys, if you want, can continue your scheming to try to figure out a way to keep Trump off the November ballot - but if you do, be prepared to LOSE YOUR SEATS too, and watch the GOP end up with as much power nationally as it now has in California...a fate deserving of them if they try this stunt.
And you cannot say you weren't warned, for this is YOUR WARNING.
Cruz, already, is on VERY THIN ICE here in Texas. If someone credible steps up to challenge him in his 2018 primary, I WILL VOTE FOR THE OPPONENT, unless Cruz takes some serious steps to redeem himself.
...and trust me, I am not alone. Cruz is giving aid and comfort to the GOPe, because of his (possibly former) credibility as a conservative - he better not double-cross us, assuming that he wants to stay in the Senate.
the NWO will love the Trumpites not voting, which means the hag goes to the WH and that obozo care and common core will remain in tact and the government will grow even larger and more aggressive against Americans and all of the things that good Americans don’t like about the federal government will get even worse and NWO wins as daddy Bush promised. Shouldn’t show your hand until the game is over and then just shoot the scoundrels before they disarm you.
“Like they care!”
TRUST ME, the ones in office certainly DO CARE. They may not care if Hillary’s the next president, but they certainly do not want to head home in defeat.
And HUGE NUMBERS of Republicans in the House and Senate WILL BE DEFEATED if the GOP is successful in removing Trump from the ticket.
“There is a Facebook Group entitled WE WILL WALK”
They haven’t banned it yet? Anyway, nice to hear. We do have a responsibility to make it PERFECTLY CLEAR that if Trump’s not on the ticket, many, if not most of them, will be GOING DOWN IN NOVEMBER, too.
I really do think that they haven’t thought it through. They figure they can work with Hillary, what they haven’t figured on is that they will likely never have a chance to work with Hillary, if Trump is taken out at the Convention. They’re simply not thinking past the convention.
I’ve already stated that if the Republican Party confirms their moniker as the Stupid Party, then I will not vote for any Republican in any race. National or local. My voting ceases, and I register myself as an independent.
They screw over Trump in the face of Clinton’s corruption and I will vote a straight independent ticket. I could never pull the trigger for a ‘rat, but I may have already voted for my last GOP.
The GOP want us to leave the party. Politics is their business and we are “bad” customers. So basically we’ve been fired.
If he is kicked out START A THIRD PARTY!!! It’s way past time, anyway.
I already have one foot out the door. I will vote Trump but the rest of the GOP ticket can die in a fire. They are half endorsing Trump so I will return the favor by voting top of GOP ticket only.
No, actually the outcome will be worse. Because it will become obvious to people that voting and particpation in the political system is a fool’s game.
The gop might as well hoist the black flag and endorse anarchism in it’s platform. Because that’s where this goes.
They’re not republicans no matter how much they pretend. And the Witch probably doesn’t even pay them.
If Trump is denied his rightful win at the convention we’re going to have a very un-civil war.
I’m still waiting for the so call FBI agents to walk out....everything at this moment is BS!!
Tell all the Republican Parties, local, state and national that you are not voting for their candidates except for Trump (if you like him), NOR will you ever donate to them again, nor will members of your family.
They need money for elections/re-election campaigns. Tell them your wallet is closed to a bunch of spineless, self-interest political wimps and surrender monkeys.
If they care, they will respond. If they don’t, it is time to form a new conservative party, NO RINOS invited or allowed.
You’ll be waiting for a long time.
Very astute observation.
I suggested some months ago that the gop had done the calculus and concluded that conservztives weren’t worth the effort. And that we’d likely get the bums rush.
I’ll just add Trump as a write-in and let the vote counters figure it out, if it comes to that.
Everybody says a write-in has even less chance than a third-party bid, but I think Trump might have enough loyalists to pull it off.
At least a write-in would let me sleep at night.
As for the rest of the ticket, Emperor Palpatine said it best, “Wipe them out. All of them.” No incumbents. None. Even the good ones. Out.
If Trump is denied the nomination, I will vote for NO Republican candidate. Ever again.
And I will beg everyone I know to do likewise.
If the GOPe steals the nomination from Trump at the convention I will become a kamikazi voter.
I will not vote for the President in the general election but I will vote against EVERY Republican incumbent in the primaries that I can.
Are you reading this McCain?
It will quickly make the Republicans the 3rd party.
