China on Monday revealed its latest supercomputer, a monolithic system with 10.65 million compute cores built entirely with Chinese microprocessors. This follows a U.S. government decision last year to deny China access to Intel's fastest microprocessors.

China is passing us. We have sold out our entire manufacturing base.
Everything is made in China. Our own leaders are selling us out.
Uh...I didn’t know ANY chips were still manufactured in the U.S. anymore?
Pity nobody that mattered was paying attention and also cared in the 1990s.
Our leaders told us we didn't need to make stuff. That we would be happy in a shift to a service base of work. Well, I don't think we'll be happy being servants to others. That relegates us to being slaves like Filipinos in Saudi Arabia. Not a rosy future. Thanks Obama and Hillary (and many others), you sure took care of us. Not.
Apple makes chips in the U.S.A. Most other PCs use chips made in China, yet people ignore those traitor PCs and blast Apple. At least Apple is making stuff here.
Just saying.
Apple has a massive manufacturing base in China.
Everything is made there. Along with the other big companies, as well.
Apple is just as big a part of the problem, as is any other company. They are all sold out.
Big time.
It wasn’t just our leaders who told us we didn’t need to make stuff.
So did people who support free trade and some of those were right here on this site. I could name them but won’t at this time. Most know who they are.
What chips are those?
Apple’s CPUs are made by Intel
There are many stateside R&D labs with silicon foundries. There might not be any consumer manufacturing, but they’re there.
China has a ton of US chips through shell companies. They just de-engineered them, then copied. Like most things “Chinese” made, they are cheap and knock offs of western goods. China uses capitalism to make communism work.
I don’t think supercomputers are where it’s at anymore. They aren’t superfast, they’re superbig. The idea being that by parcelling out all the tasks to all these linked processors, they can be completed more quickly. OK, but this is a programming nightmare. IMHO, it is adaptable only to very particular types of problems.
There are math problems that are parcelled out over the internet by the simplest notions of division of labor, and this is a successful strategy for these cases, because time is measured in days, months, and years, as well as nanoseconds.
They use Samsung chips.....
All I am saying, is that our so-called “leadership” has been on China’s side, for over one entire generation.
Both parties. Everyone.
China is becoming incredibly powerful, very quickly. And our own leadership is selling us out.
Just my opinion, mind you. But go in any store, and look at anything, on any shelf. In any city. In any state. Anywhere.
Pick up anything. Anywhere.
It will say “Made in China”.
Both parties, have sold out America.
So... now we have to learn Chinese instead of Spanish ?
No they dont. They design their chips for the iPhone but outsource production to TSMC, a Taiwanese company.
Communism, you say? Do they even pretend anymore?
The power elites have no clues what is happening in the world, and to the US, it may take a humiliating war to wake up Americans. But then it may be too late. Trump is literally the last chance not only for America but for the Western Civilization.
One party dictatorship - yes. Communism - no.
Anyone that calls china communist doesn’t have a clue as to what communism is.
American taxpayers invested in NASA and research at our colleges and universities for generations. Our government just gave it away for nothing.
