The house that sparked The Amityville Horror book and multiple movies on the murders that took place there is back on the market.
Currently listed for $850,000, the five-bedroom, three-bathroom Long Island home at 108 Ocean Ave. is up for sale through Coldwell Banker Harbor Light owner and broker Jerry ONeil.
Im very familiar with the house, he told the Daily News. A friend of mine from high school, his family owned it. I spent a lot of time in this house as a kid. Its a beautiful home.
The broker added that he does not know what to expect regarding how long it will take to sell the home, which was built in 1927.
Get out! No, really, Amityville Horror house sold Real estate is a very fickle product, he said. Sometimes youre disappointed, sometimes youre pleasantly surprised.
Caroline DAntonio, who bought the house in 2010 for $950,000 though at one point it was listed for more than $1 million, is selling it because her husband died last year and she wants to downsize.
ONeil, whose brother also owned the home on the Amityville River at one point after the murders, had no reservations about accepting the listing and is taking extra steps to make sure only serious buyers get to step foot in the house and take a tour.
Buyers are going to see this only through brokers, he said.
The application, which ONeills office will have to approve three to five days before the desired date of the viewing, states that anyone interested in seeing the listing must be financially pre-qualified and have proof of funds.
Last years property taxes for the home were $20,856.

When the murders took place, the house was worth $75,000 and was listed as 112 Ocean Ave. But after the killings, a later owner of the home worked with the post office to get the address changed.
She has already purchased a condo on a different part of Long Island.
The official listing for 108 Ocean Ave. simply describes the home as a Stately center hall colonial on Amityville River, adding that the house deed includes a large boat house, two car garage and a boat slip.
In 1974, Ronald DeFeo, 23, killed his parents and four siblings on the property.
All of the victims were found face down in their respective beds inside the home.
The DeFeos lived in the house for nine years at the time of the massacre. A year later DeFeo was put on trial and his legal team pleaded insanity because their client claimed voices in the house made him commit the murders.
He was found guilty on all six counts of second-degree murder and is currently at Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, N.Y. with a parole hearing slated for July 2017.

Local people refer to this story not as the Amityville horror but as the Amityville hoax, he said. The only horror about this house was that a family was murdered.
Nope.
“Wow, baby, this is beautiful. We got chandelier hangin’ up here, kids outside playin’, it’s a beautiful neighborhood, I really love - this is beaut—”
“GET OUT!”
“Too bad we can’t stay.”

The taxes are $20,000 a year? Ouch.
Welcome to NY! The average for the state is about $31 per assessed $1000 of value. You don't own a house here, rather you are in an unfair partnership with the government. Its worse downstate where this place is.
gotta keep the leftist progressive nanny state functioning, doncha know.
If you are sitting in that home and you hear, "Get Out!!!", it's most likely a government offical because you didn't pay the taxes.
The only horror about this house was that a family was murdered.
That’s enough to keep me from buying it.
In Texas it’s the law that if someone died in the home it must be disclosed to prospective buyers. However, if someone died of AIDS it’s against the law to disclose it.
That’s more than mortgage, insurance and taxes combined in saner parts of the country.
Over 10% depreciation in 6 years. Must have a lot of deferred maintenance.
Died or was murdered?
Is there another rendition of the movie coming? I think that’s what spawns most of the sales of this house, another movie, some more fame, price goes up, lather rinse repeat.
Now that property owners are going to be expected to pay for free government school educations for 30,000,000 "unaccompanied children," we're all going to be paying that much.

Died of what and where.
For a $100,000 loss.
No thanks.

Blood leaking from the walls is hard one.

I believe it’s “died”. Some people are afraid of ghosts.
You could call in the nurses with bottles when the walls start to bleed.
My God. That’s a skinny piece of land - butt up against neighbor houses! The neighbor’s plats are bigger/wider. Not nearly as spaced as the movie implies. Hard to miss that nastiness if you’re a neighbor!
